Chevy uses a link from the key lock in column the the switch under dash, 1 or two possibilities providing you have not had the key lock out, 1 is the switch under dash has loosened and moved
2 switch under dash has failed

When the key switch is off and the engine is not running, do you have power to the coil ? Could be a problem with the key switch.

Can a 94 chevy cheyenne transmission interchange with a 97 chevy silverado tranmission

Will it physically fit? yes. Will it be a direct replacement any everything hook right up and plug right in? If we are talking about an automatic then no. 1994's wiring was completely different than the 1997. Can it be made to work? possible, but I believe it would be more trouble trying to make it work than if the correct transmission were located and installed. If it is a cost issue where he has a good trans out of a 1994 he might see if a salvage yard will do some partial trading for the correct trans.

1994 Chevy Cheyenne K1500, Truck will not turn off, and keys are stuck in ignition in the

You are probably right in guessing the lock cylinder.
The steering wheel comes off to get to the cylinder, and there are extra steps to handle the air bag.

A blowen fuse will cause that, most all dash lights and taillights on cars and trucks run off the same fuse.

1994 chevy cheyenne with small 6 cyl. want a 350 carb

As far as fitting in the truck, no problem. Yes you will need a new computer. Your best bet would be to find a salvage truck with a 350, get the engine & the computer from the same vehicle. Most of the sensors are the same although, best case scenario is to get a complete assembly out of a salvage vehicle, including all the sensors. Motor mounts are slightly different, but you can pick those up at a parts store.

If you use a motor with a carb, you won't be able to hook up all the necessary sensors and this will cause your Check Engine light to come on at the very least, and possibly interfere with some or all of your gauges. (Remember, everything is tied together...including the gauges)

Hope this helps.
