One of the engines in the Grand AM has a filter that doesn't spin on. There is a cap that you have to remove and then the filter just drops in.

If it is hard to take out,There is a plastic splash shield on the bottom of the car, to the front of the engine cradle. It is held on with two wingnuts. Remove the shield and there is plenty of room to get the filter out.

Most common are valve cover gaskets worn out...especially the inline 6 cylinder...inspect the oil pressure sending unit located beside the oil filter...these are the most common and least costly fixes...Hope this helps.

The Oil Sending/Pressure Unit is located directly to the Left of the Oil Filter. It should have only one wire going to it.

Oilpressure switch location

Left top of your oil filter. It has a electrical connector on it. The 2000 caravan shows the Oil pressure sender next to the filter. The Knock sensor is on the other side of the filter in front of the starter. Good luck and hope this helps.

Oil Pressure

please befor you destroy the engine , have an oil pressure gage installed where your sending unit is to be sure you have enough oil pressure to even be driving the truck at all. on a hot motor at idle you should have at least 15 psi. at 2000 rpm you could have as much as 60 psi
