Front brakes rotor

Why do you want to change the rotor? Have you had poor maintenance and allowed the brake pads to wear out completely and now metal is rubbing on metal and destroyed the rotor? If so I recommend you go to the library and look for your f-150 repair manual. You should be able to find the answer. Or Better yet buy a lightly used repair manual so you can learn and understand your vehicle. Usually the rotor is a flat disk but the repair manual will be much better source.

My 2002 Toyota Avalon is shaking when I apply the brakes. I have replaced the front and rear brake pads and the front rotors with Raybestos ones. It still shakes. Could the rear rotors be warped?

That's what I would imagine. It is usually the front rotors that warp due to the fact that they work a little harder than the rears. However, rear rotors can warp. If you feel the shake more in the body of the car, so in the seat and you feel like the whole car is moving and the steering wheel stays mostly calm then I would imagine the rear rotors are warped. However if the shaking is felt mostly in the brake pedal and the steering wheel shakes too then it is probably your front rotors. Shops can usually resurface rotors and it may be cheaper than buying new, so that could be an option for you.

1997 grand am gt needs front brakes. friend took to shop and just for front rotors it costs over 500. is this even possible. it was initially told to me it would only be 150 for front rotors including...

No way, they are ripping you big time, Shops make money on brake jobs, but that is a little extreme. I would call rip-off alert and report that one. The $150 price is a little more reasonable. Even if you have to go to the junk yard for rotors, Changing the pads is a one hour job, and depending how the rotors are attached, 2 more hours at the most plus, pads, $30, plus rotors, $100 max, It sounds like they might have quoted the wrong price to start and then tried to squirm out of it by telling you it was going to be $500. Get another quote or do it yourself. Hope this helps.

97 holden commodore vs II front brake rotors -

not necessarily, its actually a good idea to replace rotors or at least get them serviced due to the fact that they arent built to last forever. if the car is a 97 it probably just had rusted or even bent rotors. if at all possible see if you can get a mechanic to check out the surrounding parts to see if there is any unusual wear done to them.

I AM BUYING A 2002 SUZUKI ESTEEM IT SEEMS TO HAVE WARPED FRONT ROTORS AS THE steering wheel shakes when brake is applied at higher speeds. No shaking or vibration while driving. Couls this be something...

Overheating is the cause for the warp. Most cases a rotor gets warped when it's constantly gets overheated from driving habits. Like constantly stopping at the last minute, driving downhill in slow traffic, and etc. Or, possibility it could be just cheap low grade rotors. Plus, the wrong type of brake shoe can play a part by causing high heat friction.

The best advice is to take the car to have it inspected by a shop before you buy it. There maybe some unforeseen problems ahead. Better safe than sorry.

I am replacing the brake pads on my Kia 2007 Sedona; front and back is neeeded or just front? Took it to Kia dealer and mechanic showed me pads where very thin and needed replacement; all for $400! Heck...

If your rotors are good and fairly smooth, then a decent ceramic pad will work well. Just be aware that ceramic pads will require a slightly greater paddle pressure. They will last longer, dust up a bit less and will perform MUCH greater in stop and go traffic...

I suspect that 25 dollars per axle is a typical cost for good quality disc brake pads.

Saturn Sl1 1998 Front Barke Rotors and Barke Pads

It's not that hard to replace, but there are some tools that your going to have to buy. If there is a Auto Zone in you're area, you can buy the brake pads and may be a new brake rotor if they look to worn out. The rotors are not that expensive any more. They also have the right tools to buy or you can use there tool loner program to get the job done and they have the step by step instructions to replacing the break pads. If you like you can log on to and look up the instructions to replacing the brake pads on your car. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

Can not get the rotors off my 97 hyundai tibaron

Hyundai Tiburon 96-01 uses a outer hub system. To replace front rotors. You'll need front bearings as well. The bearing and hub will need to be pressed out of the spindal. Then replacement of bearing will need to be pressed in. From a shop.Or they can use a slide hammer to remove ,but damages the bearing. Best to buy bearing and have cash for an alignment job too. Then replace front rotors. Rotor and hub install is ez after you get bearing pressed.Rear rotor and bearing are bolt on though.
