Check for another mounting bolt Some engines have a bolt from the backside into the starter-some Toyotas and Hondas do. And sometimes a mounting bolt is towards the inside of the starter, possibly hidden from sight by the starter solenoid.

90 f250 460 starter removal pain two bolts are obstructed by exaust

Use a swivel on an extension to remove the bolts if the bolts can be removed without hitting the exhaust. Otherwise, on your vehicle, the exhaust will have to be removed.

I hit a rock with my 07 HHR, it put a gash in the oil pan. I am trying to remove the oil pan but it won't budge. I have taken all of the bolts out and it still won't budge. How do I remove the oil pan?

Take a second look to make sure you have all bolts removed. Take a large rubber hammer and give it a few hits on all 4 corners. This should dislodge it. If not you will have to pry it loose going all around the outside edge. It is stuck due to the sealant they use at the factory.

Have a 2003 Pont Vibe changing starter removed one bolt (frnt right) but still won't budge. Where is other bolt(s) located??

Generally starters on GM vehicles have either 2 or 3 bolts that keep the starter on in addition to the wiring that is generally held on with a nut and stud.

Look for a shroud that keeps you from seeing the other bolt(s).

Good luck to you.

My Isuzu Rodeo 1998 6cyl has a problem to start up, I have to try 2 or 3 times to start it, sometimes start up the ist time. 4 yrs ago I had the same problem, took it to the dealer they first replace the...

if you turn the key and nothing happens chances are that the starter is going out. I have a 98 also. Here is the problem there becomes a couple of bad spots on the starter and that is when it doesn't do anything. If you change it your self be prepaired to get really dirty. You must remove the exaust pipe comming from the manifold and if you can take off the bolts at your first union joint on the exaust great. If not you have to cut the bolts and then the starter will come right out and the new one goes in very easy. If you take it to a dealer you could also have them check the relay also.

Trying to remove the Starter

Well before you wind up dropping the trans, lol, check the front side of the trans in front of the starter. There's usually a bolt or or nut on a stud. There's only 3 bolts or 2 bolt & that stud holding it in. Check autozone's site for a diagram or buy a Hayne's manual from any parts store.
