I don't know what the symbol means on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire
One of the symbols in my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire lights up periodically and I do not know what it is. It looks like a box, with an arrow poining down to low liquid level. It lights up next to the low oil and check gauge symbols.

Which lights? the night lights or the symbol lights. if the symbol lights are the lights that are on, you need to tell me which ones. you said all lights but if it is the symbol lights then you are telling me the battery light ,oil light ,temp light, abs light, low coolant, washer fluid, check engine, brake and so on, let me know what is on.
this is your radiator signal that the radiator is low on antifreeze probably due to a slow leak or just possible evaporation over long periods of time w/o checking the anti freeze reserve tank and or radiator
okay let me tell you and i will try to show you them. first is the check engine light which is a yelloe symbol of a small engine, this means theres a problem with the engine operation or emmisions system. this you can go to an auto parts store and they will scan the cars computer for codes and give you a print out. i can help you further with the codes, next is the anti braking system which doesnt allow the wheels to skid in heavy braking or snow and ice, this symbol will say ABS.nextis the red brake light which will say BRAKE in red and will sometimes come on with the yellow ABS light this light if on alone means you are low on brake fluid, which means a leak or low brakes and you need to have the brake system checked asap, the rest of the light are low coolant, trac, which is in the ****** and controls the traction control, this light will come on if this cars has it when the abs or engine light is on because the computer shuts it done when theres a problem.hope this helps.heres a good site that will show you all lights and what they mean there are alot depending on the car. hope this is helpful.http://www.autoevolution.com/news/how-to-read-the-dashboard-lights-1370.html
If this is what you are seeing (see picture below) the explanation is there but you need to check your coolant level. Now I have a question, I did not see this symbol for the 2000 sunfire. I took a chance and went up to a 2001 sunfire and it was there. This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If your car was built after August of 2000 you really technically have a 2001. you can check the manufacturing date inside the drivers door on a label. If you need an owners manual for either year feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your make model and year (for sure and I would go with the 2001) and I will be happy to email you a copy. No worries there's no cost for it. I hope this helps and good luck.
Is the transmission a manual? If so, then the light you mentioned is the indicator when to upshift to the next highest gear. The system was designed to help save fuel by letting you know when it is the best rpm to shift, thereby reducing engine strain and fuel consumption.
do u have an owners manual? this is the security system warning symbol, you have been locked out, try this reset procedure, if that doesn't reset the key code then you will need a dealer to hook up a GM scasnner and see what the problem is. PASSKEY LOCKOUTRESET GM CARS 1999 UP 1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the PASSKEY system to recognize your key.
Is it in the center of the dash or in the right corner? The one on the right is for the ABS. The one in the center is a general message. Using the read function on the signal stalk there will be an explanation of the light.
