code p 0340 refers to camshaft position(CMP) sensor A bank 1--circuit malfunction===causes wiring---CMP sensor ---ECM
because it denotes bank i ( bank closest to the fire wall) did you change the correct sensor
check for wiring and harness conditions ait it may run close to the manifold and be worn through or broken at places

1997 nissan quest camshaft sensor where is it & how to replace it

The camshaft sensor is located inside the distributor and is part of it, in order to replace it you must replace the distributor,to replace remove the dist cap. mark the location of the rotor,by marking where its pointing to, then mark the dist housing, so now theres a mark on the rotor and housing to show where rotor points, next mark the location of dist going into housing, mark the shaft and the block,because it spins in block this way you can line back up.next remove hold down bolt and pull out,mark the new dist in exacat same spots as the old so you can install back the same,you may have to put it in and pull it out until your marks are lined up,this way the timing will be dead on, when done you can check timing. good luck

2005 NIssan quest camshaft sensor

for a Nissan Quest, it is in the distributor. Not serviceable, replace distributor. Famous for nearing failing and getting brown dust on optical sensor for camshaft sensor. buy on ebay for $200. Cleaning optical sensor is temp repair.

Call dealer & see if yours is there too.

There is a sensor in the distributor that tends to cause this problem. The sensor is the called the camshaft position sensor and it is responsible for the ignition timing. If you have a timing light you can verify that the sensor is faulty by checking the timing while the engine is acting up. If the sensor is faulty, the timing will be erratic or just plain wrong. In many cases cleaning the sensor will correct the problem.

To clean the camshaft position sensor: Remove the distributor cap and rotor. This will give access to a metal plate that covers the sensor. Remove the screws the secure the plate and remove the plate. Inside there should be an optical sensor that you can clean using a spray type "Sensor Safe Air-Intake Cleaner". Eye protection is recommended when doing this.

Unfortunately, cleaning the sensor does not always fix the problem. In that case, the fix is to replace the distributor. Since the distributor is quite expensive and the problem could be something else, it is recommended that you use a timing light to check the ignition timing for any problems to confirm that the problem is the camshaft position sensor.
