Replace it when it gives weaker than normal spark, or no spark (only determined by actual testing of trigger components as well.) How long do they last? Should last more than a few years, have had some last 300K without failing.

My 97 larado grand cherokee dies while im driving and I got a code of po351 what does this code mean and how can I fix this

P0351 Code Means Ingtion coil number 1 primary circuit. The coil is usally bad the reason they fail is the plug wires are too old and the spark plugs are worn out. You might have recenly replaced the plugs and wires but the coil was damaged while the old ones were still on and it finally failed now. Don't run the car much with this problem as it'll start a chain reaction of other problems that can cost you more than you what to pay so get it completly fixed now.

Where are the spark plugs located in a 4.7 2001 grand cherokee?

On the 4.7 V8 engine, each individual spark plug is located under each ignition coil.
Prior to removing spark plug, spry compressed air around base of ignition coil at cylinder head. This well help prevent fireing material from combustion chmber.

Runs bad

I don't think 2 coils will go bad at the same time.
Is this a 6 or 8 cyl?
Could be a vacuum line that's common to both cylinders.
