Would you please e-mail me an electrical schmatic for the air conditioner on my 2000 Ford Excort. I have narrowed down my the problem to the switch on the air conditioning unit that tell the air conditioner to turn on and off. Thank you, Susan

2000 ford contour signal light switch doesnt work

if you have narrowed down to a light switch, then you can perhaps get a replacement one from an auto parts yard. if it is the turn signal, the dealership will need to put this in for you because it is so hard to get into the steering column due to theft considerations.

If it is an interference type engine valves might be damaged along with piston heads. If a 4 cylinder not an interference type but new belt requires mechanical timing when replaced.

Do you have a volt ohm meter check if you are getting voltage to the head lights if you are check the ground if you do not have power to the light sockets you sould get a schmatic for your cars electrical system to start tracing your wireing . Hope this helps

My ford taurus 2000 don't start at day light but it would at night time with no problem at all.

This sounds like a poss fuel pump problem, do this test, get a can of spray starting fluid from any auto parts store, when it won't start remove the hose to the engine from the air filter and spray some starting fluid in while the engine is cranked, if it starts then u have a sticking electric fuel pump, the other thing u need to do is get the electronic engine control computer tested for fault codes, any Kragen or Autozone does this for free, these codes will help narrow down any problem in the system.

Air continues to run with engine off

The air conditioner compressor is driven via belt by the engine; if the engine is off, the compressor is off = no AC.

You didn't mention which fan is still running but I'll assume it is the one underthe hood, not the one that circulates passenger compartment air.
What is running is the electric fan that assists with cooling of the heat exchanger of the AC system. You probably have a thermal switch or relay that is not releasing.

Locate the relay/fuse box and check if there is a chart of the relays and fuses to locate the one that isn't releasing and try swapping two relays with the same part number on them to check relay function.
