Question about Volkswagen New Beetle

1 Answer

My AC is not blowing air. I replaced the compressor last year and have not had any problems until about one month ago. I was driving down the road with the AC on low. It began to change blow air on high, then down to low, then back up to high, then off, all on its own and with the AC switch still on low. That evening my car's headlights would not work in the dim position, but only on high beam. Not sure if the problems are related or two separate problems. The AC button light stays off even when I attempt to turn it on, but the recirculating air button stays lit whether switch off or on.

The recirculating switch will stay on even if the a/c is off and that is normal. Now the next problem is a wiring fault somewhere and you will need to have the vehicle checked by an expert to find the fault.Do not touch the a/c until you are sure everything else if ok.

2002 Buick Rendezvous no heat and over heated after warming it up for over 30 minutes.

Have a pressure test done on your cooling system, you sound like you could have a leak in your system or your system just needs to have the air bled from it. Check your coolant level also, with air in the system and not enough coolant it will blow cold and cause overheating.

if it was getting low on freon, it wouldn't cycle at all.
A noise when the compressor kicks on could be a bad bearing.
I just replaced one in my 98 chevy and had to replace it again after a few months...bad bearing/clutch

I want to by pass my air conditioner compressor on a 1997 Z-28, is there a serpinetine belt made to do this?

Usually doing what you want to do has problems down the road, a serpentine belt around the AC is not costing much, in terms of horsepower robbing. It is an idler when not engauged.

My a/c in my car in blowing hot air after had a/c checked as gas

Unfortunately you might have a coolant leak, in spite of the A/C inspection. I'd get a second opinion from another mechanic. Have the mechanic check to make sure your condenser is not clogged with dirt, rocks and road grime, preventing the A/C system from cooling properly. Notorious problem for automotive air conditioning.

Check to see that the fuse to the A/C is not blown and that the compressor is cycling on and off as it should. If the the A/C pressure switch was not inspected, it should be inspected and tested for proper operating.

One last thing. Also have the mechanic check the pressure in the A/C system, and that there is sufficient refrigerant in the system.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

1999 odyssey blows some cold air when moving

It could be a number of things. Check to see if the clutch is turning on the compressor. If it keeps turning on and off (cycling) it is low on freon. Is the condenser clean and free of bugs and road debris? Is the radiator fan coming on? If not that could explain why it is cold while driving, but hot while idling. Most all vehicles will blow colder on the AC when driving down the road because you are getting cooler air through the condenser. Hooking up a set of gauges to the vehicle will tell you best what is going on. Basic rule of thumb is: low side should be in the 30-40 lb range while running and the high side should be around 100 lbs higher than the ambient air temperature. Anything drastically different means you have a problem.

03 suburban ac problem

Put a new belt on it and spray the condenser coil in front of the radiator with a hose when it gets up to temp or the sound starts and see if it stops. Thats what I did today. Flapping/clacking stops for about 10 minutes until thing get hot again.A/C blowing cold air the entire time.

AC blowing warm on 1998 Ford F-150

The can will only connect to the low pressure side. Could be a bad drier. If the lines were unhooked for more than 30 minutes when changing the compressor, the drier is probably filled with moisture.
