The cd wouldnot play before but after using the control on the steering wheel it will display "CD" and begin playing. I let it play for a bit ad tried to eject cd but it still will not eject. Does it seem I will still need to remove the entire unit?

  • piddypatsatt Jul 19, 2009

The display shows CD and name of audio book. Unit will play the cd. So if this is optical why does it play the CD. I thought you need the optical to read the CD...?

  • piddypatsatt Jul 20, 2009

    I am sorry I did

not describe the situation correctly. It was playing an audio book cd. Disk ended and I pushed eject button. That is when it made the clicking sound and would not eject. The display will now show "CD and Name of audiobook" but it will just not eject..just makes the sound. I push CD button again and it still plays along with the proper display. I do hope you can help me out. I saw on another site to place another CD in unit and try to eject original CD but evidently I did not do that right either 'cause it did not work. So whatya think..Fran

HI, this is typical optical lens assembly failure. this lens assembly incorporates the entire loading dock Assembly as well. The (NO CD), code is a universal signal that is displayed when the load motor and, track assembly has failed(gear breakdown). The integrity of the loading track has been compromised. the loading motor is basically jammed at this point, this will produce the clicking sound you are hearing.

In order to extract the CD that is trapped at this point, you Will need to remove the unit from the enclosure or, dash housing. this unit will need a total optical lens Assembly replacement procedure. this is expensive and, it may be more cost effective to just purchase a new unit in this case.

This unit will need to be disassembled in order to retrieve the CD.

Yes , this is true but, the design incorporates the entire assembly. if the loading motor is jammed(clicking and not ejecting), the entire assembly will need to be replaced due to the integrated design. the entire assembly is integrated into one whole piece with a steel structure that encloses the loading assembly and optics as well. this is why the unit will play but, it will not eject. this is also the reason for the universal NO CD code you received.

The optics may not be effected but, due to the design of the unit, the entire assembly will need to be replaced, unfortunately.

Ok, the revised description of this issue has changed the dynamics of my solution slightly but the result will be the same. I'm getting the sense that you really are looking for a quick and easy fix with no price tag. I completely understand this but, the actual issue is the jammed loading assembly. You stated that when you pushed the eject button to extract the audio book(CD), you herd a click and, the CD will not eject. this is not normal. when you hear a click in this type of mechanism, it will be a strong indicator of mechanism failure, due to jam linkage and stripped load motor gear Assembly. all of these devices or, component's are integrated into the entire player.

Unfortunately, the procedure that you were informed about, will not help in this situation because, the mechanism is jammed. the CD is ok and, it is seated properly inside the unit. the problem is, the eject mode has failed.

This unit or, player will need to be serviced.

The unit must be extracted from the vehicle before proper service can be administered.

Pound the top of your dash with your fist while ejecting.
If this does not work - you will be required to remove the radio and have it disassembled to retrieve your CD and repair.

Thanks for using FixYa

The only way to get this cd out now is to remove the unit and diassemble it.Once there you can manually try to remove the cd and work out the mechanism that may be faulty etc..This is the only safest and correct way...

The CD player/changer in my car is not loading or ejecting the CD's. When I push the load or eject button, it makes a grinding sound. It was playing fine yesterday but since I left a CD inside the CD...

I just acquired the same problem. I tried to put a new CD in and it wouldn't take it. I ended up pushing it in when I was trying to get it back out and now it won't play the CD, or eject it. I think it could be stuck between tracks, but they want $188 to look at it and fix it even if it is a simple fix. I am looking for suggestions also, Diane

Cd stuck in the player

You can use another old CD and some very sticky tape (like duct tape).Take a peice of tape about 2 inches long.Fold it so it's half the lenth and sticky on both sides.Adhere it to the end of the old CD so its flat and will adhere to the other stuck CD.Slide the old CD w/the tape on it(aimed down) in the CD slot and while pressing the eject button and adhere it to the stuck CD and pull.It should stick to the other CD and dislodge it

CD player is not working.

I would first try removing the fuse to the radio/cd player, see if that resets the system and get the cd out.

Hope this helps some.

it may have another stuck CD inside. or something else. Especially if there are kids around. I removed 2 CD's from a stereo which had the same problem.
