Question about 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan

1 Answer

All of a sudden I lost the ability to steer easily in my 2001 Dodge Caravan. After I turned down the radio, I realized the car was making a ton of noise. I continued home (just around the corner) and checked to make sure nothing is leaking. What should I do? Have the pump changed?

The reservoir is full. OK, I will try having it flushed or is this something I can do? Thank you!

If the pump is full, likely it has failed...have the system flushed to make sure debris is removed.

Replace the amplifier. Mine was making a popping/clicking noise every 2 seconds with the radio on or off and that was the only sound coming out. Unplugged the amp and the noised stopped. During this troubleshooting issue the radio did lost the ability to adjust the balance left/right & front/back. Couldn't find a repair shop to give me a straight answer on replacing the board ended up buy a used one for $250.

Transmission problem on my 2001 dodge caravan

Not good if it makes a grinding noise. Needs a tech or replacement as something most likely has come loose inside the transmission.

During a long ride the turn signals and radio in my 2001 dodge durango both quit working suddenly. Is there a fuse that controls both and where might I find it (in the dash panel or under the hood)?

I have the same problem with my 2001 Durango. It has something to do with the ignition cylinder not making a good connection. I have to tilt the steering wheel all the way up and then giggle the key to make the turn signals and radio come back on. It's also a lot worse in cold weather.

I took the ignition cylinder out and cleaned it and it has helped the problem a little bit.

Loss of power steering.

Might be a slipping serpentine belt. Did you happen to drive through a puddle of water just before this happened?

Could also be your steering rack going bad. This would be more money. Hopefully not. When was the last time you had your power steering fluid drained and replaced?

Ignition key will not turn

if the steering wheel is in a bind against the lock the key will not turn easily if at all. try rocking the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key. be firm with the wheel, you're not gonna hurt anything. not to much pressure on the key, forcing the key wont help.

2001 dodge grand caravan no power steering assist I have replaced power steering pump and flushed system

The rack and pinion unit is probally bad. There are internal seals inside that hold the pressure, created by the pump, to turn the wheels, these seals maybe worn, or other internal parts are bad inside.

2001 grand caravan overheating. then suddenly cool

Change your thermostat before it sticks closed completely. Sticky thermostat is usually the cause.
Another possibility is that your radiator fan temperature switch is going bad. This is usually located next to the upper radiator hose at the gooseneck on your engine where the thermostat is located.

Cruise Control, Steering Wheel Radio Buttons, Overhead Console

it sounds like you got 2 problems...the cruise and radio buttons sound like a bad clockspring......the overhead console problem sounds like a bad ambient temp sensor located behind the grill. if it is too cold out the ac will not run
