Test for voltage with key on check all wires with digital meter only set to 5 or 10 volts dc base and digonsotic voltage is as follows 1.5 is base 5 is test lotage hook up the ground wire and tesy with a vachum pump as you apply vachum 18 inchs voltage should rise to max 4.5 volts as vac is let off should drop to 1.5 a steady needle indactes it's ok if it is erratic replace the unit.

How to test a MAF and Map sensor and CTS (coolant temp sensor)

I have used this technic for a MAF sensor with three wires on it. Two of the wires would be power and ground and the third smaller wire would be the output signal going to the computer. Here is the procedure. First you have to have a digital multimeter. Turn the ignition to on position. Then measure the output voltage from the MAF sensor as you blow air into the filament. You should be able to see changes in voltages of a few volts. Almost the same procedure when testing a map sensor, except on the map sensor you apply slight vacuum to the hose connector.
To test coolant temperature sensor, measure the resistance at the terminal. On a cold engine the resistance should be a few thousand ohms. Then measure the resistance again when the engine is hot which should be a few hundred ohms. You are not looking here for exact reading but rather look for a drastic change in value. A bad temperature sensor will either change very little in resistance value or not change at all related to temperature difference.

I have 1999 GMC suburban when you turn the key in the ignition none of the accessory lights on the dash come on and it wont turn over. Replaced the ignition switch and the ignition lock cylinder .

you can do an ohm test for continuity on the mafs itself to see if it's bad. i think autozone does this on the counter for you for free too

ok 95 , must be 16v as only that engine has MAF.
the sensor is on the air cleaner box, has 2 wires. and the ohms
is on the below page. as is the full schematic, and the maf wiring
is the cel glowing key on , and off driving 20miles? if not post the flash codes. DTCs.
the iat is the least important in fact the 92 its MISSING !
the maf tests are here. too. many tests,
suzuki sells a maf for $1000 (dogs) and the china one is junk.
so test it carefully or go broke fast.
IAT and ECT ( both read same)

Mazda 2003 b2300 running lean on bank 1 it started with ramdom misfire, no spark. and i replace coil, plugs and wires. then it came up with the o2 sensor and replaced one 02 sensor by firewall

Hello! Lets look at this with cause and effect...One of only a few sensors is the cause of a lean mixture...The lean mixture then causes random misfires which in turn causes the O2 sensor to read to much oxygen in the exhaust...

Two sensors control the fuel/air mixture; The Mass Air Flow (MAF) and the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor...Lets eliminate..You'll need an multimeter (digital is best...$20)...The MAF is bolted to the inlet hose to the throttle body...See drawing below...It is combined with the Intake Air Temperature sensor...Pull the connector...Set meter to read 50K Ohms...Locate the pins where the wire colors Gray and Gray/Red connect...Clip meter leads to these pins on the unit...At 77 degrees F you should read 36K ohms...with a hot engine 190 degrees F should read 3.5 K ohms...Notice how as temperature rises the resistance drops...If you do not get these readings the MAF with IAT is the problem...Replace it...If it reads as specified here is the next test...Buy a can of electronic contact cleaner (auto parts store) Remove the MAF from the intake hose...Spray into the air passage...Cleaner leaves no residue and dries quickly...Install, plug in connector and test...If fault has cleared stop there and let me know...NOTE: Using an after market air cleaner that is impregnated with oil will ruin the MAF sensor...Send a comment...Guru...Saailer

How do you remove or inspect the maf sensor and egr valve on a 1995 chevy blazer im not mechanically inclined so the more precise the better..thanks

to check the egr valve take some vacum hose had hook it to the egr valve.By removing the factory **** on the other end of the hose u should feel a vacum.If not and you can draw air it is no good.Also to check the maf will need a ohm meter.a maf sensor messures air temp and turn it into signal for the computer to read.u will need the shop manual for the correct ohms.but just to try a quick test a maf has 3 wires.ok one of them is for the ground the other 2 are postive signal.find the 2 postive signal wires and take a ohm reading at room put it in the fridge for about 10 minutes and take a nother ohm reading it should be diffrent even if not by a lot. if its the same exact ohm im betting your maf is no good.

My coolant Temp gage goes out and comes back on after about 50 miles. sometime it stays off for over that and the ''checkengine light'' comes on. I had Onstar do a dianostic test on it and the said it was...

it should be by your MAF-- Mass Air Flow---be careful, when you remove it, coolant will come out, so relieve the pressure, as for your check engine light, reset the computer by disconnectin the negative battery terminal for five minute, this will reset it
