SOURCE: How to replace the ignition coil

You can replace this yourself.  do you have a code reader to figure out what cylinder is misfiring.  Coils fail all the time.  It is best to replace all at the same time.   Because these coils fail so often this is the best plan of action.  In order to get to the coils you must remove some stuff.  Assuming you have the 3.0 liter engine.  On the passenger side remove the airbox assy.  On the drivers side remove the coolant resovior.
Don't unook the lines just take the phillips screw out and move out of the way.  Next on each side there should be 2 torx t15 little ***** screws holding the coil wires. Remove these screws.  Next get a screwdriver and carefully pry on the underside of coil to pry it up some.  Do this to each.  They are in there kinda tough so it will take some leverage.  Once you have them moved up some unclip the connectors from the coils.  Careful not to break the connectors.   Once the connectors are loose just pull the coils up.  Reassemble in reverse order.

Hi, My Chevrolet optra 2006 Manual misfiring very badly plugs and cables changed. Initially runs well after 30min misfires and engine stops. Engine heat is less than half. No other indicators during...

The fault could be further back in the ignition system. It could be a faulty plug lead or a problem with one or more of the coil packs, (some companies fit single 'multi blocks' and others fit one coil onto each plug).
I think yours will have a multi block coil pack. I don't think they are too expensive, possibly somewhere around the $80 to $100 area. They are easy enough to change your self.
If you are in any doubt get a good auto electrician to go over the car and help you trace the fault. Comment if you need any more help.

P38 misfires and pops when hot

it is possible that you have access carbon buildup around your valves or on top of the Pistons that gets hot and on cruise causes the engine to misfire. It is also possible that you have some water in the mix that is forced through under normal conditions that under cruise conditions is causing problems also.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you replace the ignition coil. If the ignition coil gets hot the car may stall or may not start right away till it cools down. The ignition coil is surely faulty and replacement is surely necessary.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I would have them take a good look at the fuel preasure and also the coil pack, as the car may run good at times and then skip whenever, hope this helps, also have they scanned the computer for stored codes as if its skipping the check engine light must be on.

1998 Chev 1500. 305 T.B.injection. Engine runs a little ruff when first started hot or cold but smooths out perfect after about 10 min of running. Check engine light on.

If you haven't already changed plugs and wires, do that first, but i suspect you have an intake gasket or a head gasket leaking. It runs rough when you start it because of coolant in the cylinder. After it clears out and dries, it will run fine. That would especially be the case if you have to add coolant occasionally.
