Question about 1992 Honda Accord

1 Answer

My (1992) Accord hesitates when the gas pedal is depressed...

I have a 1992 Honda Accord EX, 2.2L 4 cylinder mated with 4 speed automatic transmission. It's a recent purchase. From day one, I've noticed that the car has a problem. Immediately after I leave my house for work my car would hesitate when the gas pedal is depressed, and that is either from a complete stop or while the car is in motion. When I notice the problem, I would pull over and let the car sit for 2-3 minutes. After that, the car would drive good for the entire day. It's only after the engine has cooled down when the problem appears. Also the "check engine light" occasionally comes on. Please help!

My clutch pedal went to the floor when i started my car without depressing it. I have fluid in my resivor.

Hi,
Beings as the pedal fell to the floor without you depressing it,after the motor started, I would get a flashlight and look for the clutch linkage ,from the inside to the master ,then to the slave cylinder. The linkage may have come disconnected somewhere. Good Luck !!!!!!!!!

Starts fine, idles fine, stalls when put in gear to drive away

Try depressing slightly the gas pedal to see if the engine continues to run when you put it in gear. Might have to depredd gas pedal and brake simultaniusly. if the engine continues to run, then the problem is in the idle circuit. Try decarboning the throttle body and the idle speed control.

1988 5 speed Honda Accord

Ensure your spark plugs, wires (ignition coil and spark) and your filters (air and fuel) are within 2 years of installation It's erratic at 800 rpm as the engine is cold and they like the 2200 range for 3 minutes before they kick down on their own. Press the pedal twice before inserting your key. The owners manual states depending on the outside temperature, the engine will require more priming. Update if possible.

1992 honda accord ex starts to accelerate on its own at about 40- 50 mph what could be the problem?

Check your engine mounts to make sure they haven't failed. The torque of the engine can, during acceleration, can cause the motor to twist slightly if the motor mount(s) are bad, causing the gas pedal linkage to move, increasing acceleration.
