COLT CLUB CAB 2.8TDI 2003 & 2008 MODELS. AFTER SERVICING 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHTS ON DASH ARE ILLUMINATED & KEEP FLASHING. 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS WORKING HOWEVER.

Take a look at the wiring to the transfer case and the actuation motor it can also be the control module

If it engages in 4WD and works noramly in 2 and 4 wheel .
Then I would look to the switches . A lose wire bad connection or if a cable is involved a slight adjustment
Dosn't sound like you have a big problem .You will have to do a little research on how the system works being some are vacuum with cable some electronic even the same vehicle same year im not sure what Mitsubishi used in the colt in that year .
But mitsubishi are build very well good engieneering

Test the electric motor that engages the transfer case.

Depending on the make and model, it could be the control switch on the dash or the switch that moves the gears in the transfer case.

Found the same prob with a 2000 4x4.....Took the dash apart were the switch is,cleaned the contacts and it took care of it.. The 4 wheel drive worked fine just the light in the information box was a pain.....it was only a connection.....

try a junk yard for one or new will be costly

On the axle there is a vacuum Actuator that engages a collar on the axle that engages the four wheel drive if the axel splines are worn or havent been lined up they will get burred and won't allow the collar to line up. You can remove the actuator and see the splines and determine if they need to be fixed.

1st check the bulb, also the sensor on the transfer case selector motor that turns on the bulb may be defective, check the plug at the transfer case for water or a poor connection if the buld for the indicator checks good
