Question about 1996 Nissan Sentra

1 Answer

I have the same issue

I changed my starter, and it burned up. When i started the car I heard a loud vacuum type sound. I turned off my car but i still heard it. I opened my hood and smoke began coming form under the manifold where my new starter was installed. The starter finally stopped and I tried to restart it unfortunately the battery was very low by this point. I received a jump with no luck , we waited on hold with AAA for over 20 minutes. I jumped back in my car and just for fun I turned the key and it started right up . I haven't had any problems since

Why won't my car start? What is making the clicking noises coming from the engine compartment?

soleniod on the starter motor is the most likely source of the clicking noise. The starter motor may be faulty and not cranking over the motor.

When i press start on my meagne it clicks but nothing happens??

I would suspect the problem is the starter mounted solenoid has burned contacts inside. This is a common issue with all gear reduction type starters that have been used for the last 15 years or so.

Loud click and buzz when trying to start car

your starter is shot. The click and the ting sound is your bendex not engaging properly. You can catch car on fire, or mess up your computer if you keep trying to start it. Be sure to disconnect the battery when you change it. Good luck

Not starting clicking sound heard

if the clicking sound is a series of clicks, this would indicate a low voltage type issue, if once click is heard then starter circuit. in 1991 the "s" terminal n the starter had a tendency to fail creating a no crank situation..the s terminal is the smaller wire on starter...

I went out to start my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero and it wouldn't start heard a gurgling noise then saw a little smoke coming from under the hood. I opened the hood to check my oil thinking maybe it was low...

usally smoke indicates a burned wire form too much resistance. you may need to replace both the positive and negitive battery cables with a new starter.
replace those and go from there try to turn the engine by hand. hopefully it is not locked up .if it would not turn the stater may have drawn too many amps and burned your wires.

I have a 2005 chevrolet equinox the other day it started making this really loud sound like loud static coming from the speakers and the radio was off and you could smell wires burning can anyone help me

Yee gads! this issue sounds like something is shorted to ground, most anything of that type would broadcast into the radio.

Locate, immediately, the source of the burning wire smell. this issue is a serious FIRE HAZZARD. Do not let up until you find it. Burning wire smell, presuming that is what is happening, often results in major car fire... Find the burning wires and you will have your answer.

Not starting replaced alt, starter, solenoid, and battery is good

It sounds like the wires from the battery to the starter solinoid are burned out, possibly even more of them to the main fuse box under the hood. You will have to start looking for the burned wires you can already smell and replace them. Starter and Battery area are a good place to start.

Starting problems in Jag x-type 2002

Just had this same problem, starter was ticking but not turning, would start with jump leads but no sign of a flat or faulty battery. Garage I took it to replaced starter and alternater got £270 charge then when I got it back it happened again the next day!
Since found out that it was simply a dodgy connection between the battery and the starter.
