The Flasher is mounted high on the Firewall behind the dash. You need to get on your back on the driver's side floor to view and reach the relay.
Before replacing the flasher, check the turn signal fuse.

Yes, you are on the right track. More than likely it is a defective flasher relay as one relay controls turn signal and hazard flash. The flasher relay is located behind the left side of the instrument panel.
If you normally hear a clicking sound when signaling, it is probably located under your dashboard.
If the sound is 'electronic' (beeping) it is likely in your fuse/relay box.
I don't own any vehicle for which I have not bought the after-market service manual; Haynes is best, Chilton is OK.
