You have to push the clips open that hold the plastic casings together.

Removing driver door panel 1996 Saturn SL2

There are two plastic slide pins that are on the door knob itself. These need to be pushed out while holding the handle up. Make sure you don't lose them since you will need them to put the panel back on. The other thing that is needed is to take the torx screws out of the door on the bottom and around the door (inside part of panel). Be careful not to break the plastic on the panel since there are clips that goes on the plastic panel; however, if they do break, just use J-B Weld, the quick dry, to fix them.Get some never seize at Advance Auto to place on the threads of the torx bolts so they will never stick again. The mirror will also, need to come off which requires a 10mm deep swell socket, there are usually 3 bolts for that. To access those bolts, take a screwdriver and pry off the plastic is on with clips.

How do you gain access to replace the belt tensioner on a 1996 saturn

You need to take the passenger side wheel off and pull the plastic covers off that side which a screw driver and wire cutter pliers assist real well, but don't cut through with the wire cutters. Only clamp down with them far enough to pry. Then you will need a 15mm wrench to undo the belt. Keep track of how the belt goes back; however, there should be a diagram on the radiator cover to assist. There are 2 10mm bolts that will need to be removed on the tensioner. The 15mm bolt should be used again since the new ones usually are too long to get back on unless you grind off some threads, about 3 to be exact. Use anit-seize on the threads that can be purchased at Advance Auto. This will make the bolts easier to get off in the future, and if you keep the car long enough, there will be a future. Hope this helps.

    Front bumper cover removal

Those may have clips on the front, near/under the grille assy. You need to remove those, and approx 3-4 10mm screws. In the front wheel well, pull back the inner liner, and another 10mm screw is right near the front, remove that too. Once that's done, you should be able to pull the corner piece away just slightly and remove another 10mm screw.
