Question about 2001 Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

High idle speed, it goes on its own to 40 mph, 2002 hyundai accen

It accelerates on its own to 30 or 40 mph, it seems as though when I am driving it it changes gears hard, I just got a new transmission to try to remedy the problem, but its still doing it. If i put it in park it revs to 4500 rpm and keeps going up till i turn it off.

Possibly but to find the fault have the fault codes read . It may be the accelerator position sensor . Don't waste money until you have the codes to point you in the right direction

Have a trained diagnostic tech listen to this noise, as you can imagine diagnosing a noise on this computer link is really impossible, you need to hear it first hand.

Look for a vacuum leak somewhere. This is the most common problem for a high idle.

Time for a little tranny work, maybe. How old IS that fluid? It's possible that it's time to replace or at least adjust the innards to get it up to snuff again. When you have the speed problem, does it seem that it is in low gear?
