Makes whining noise

This could be a stuck Bendix gear. The Bendix gear is the gear that engages with the flywheel on the engine when you start the car, and if it hasn't retracted it will whine.

Check with a local garage, but do so soon.

High pitch whine or whistle

if it was front main seal, the belts all had to come off to acess this..as a result the timing belt may have been replaced by them and put on too tight which will whine as the engine runs..this will get less intense as the new belt gets stretched and will be gone within a few hundred miles..as long as the belt was installed to specs there should be no problem other than a noise which shouldnt last long repost if it keeps on or something else happens..good luck..

2008 Buick lucrerne steering wheel making a whining noise when you turn the wheel.

Simplest solution is to check the belts on the front end of engine. Aquealing noise frequently comes from belts slipping. Tighten, or, if better than 60,000 miles of so, replace.

I have a 2001 pontiac grand prix gt and it makes a squealing noise, and when i accelerate it gets louder and more whiny. I have replaced the belt and it still makes the noise. If the car is started and not...

It sounds like a belt thats slipping. You have a sticking puley somewhere, take off the belt and rotate all of the pulleys. Usually its an AC compressor pulley so pay special attention to it. The whining noise that it makes while turning, is it the same as the squealing noise? If so it could be a problem with the pump, check the fluid level and see if its an odd color or has an odd odor (like burnt or black). Hope this helps!

Remove the serpentine belt and run the engine to see if the whine still exists. If the whine is gone, try moving the pullies by hand to feel what pully is rough or has a lot of play. Your issue with the heat is likely separate from the whine. You have air in the cooling system. With the engine cold, remove the radiator cap. Fill the radiator to the top and run the engine until it gets to operating temp. The level in the radiator will drop, this is when you add more coolant and replace the cap. Make sure your overflow/resivoir bottle is half full with coolant.

4x4 does not respond at all on 2001 ford Ranger Edge

I have a 2001 Ford ranger edge 4x4 with the 4.0L SOHC. My 4x4 module had to be replaced before I bought the truck used. The previous owner said the module was located behind the plastic panel that is under and to the right of the glove box. Mine makes a clicking noise whenever I turn the switch to 4x4 or 4x2. That's just the solenoid switch that is inside the module working. From what I've heard it's pretty common for the modules to get corroded from moisture over time in that location. Hope this helps. God bless

2001 Ford Ranger V6 timing chain

Hello;
The Ford motors are pretty good. I had 280K on a 2.9 V-8 that only needed the oil changed every 3K. Unless you have fluctuatuation in the timing then you should be ok.
These engines use a chain rather than a belt and have excellent life.
Thanks;
Rich RPM Northwest
