Just put a new battery in my Cadilla STS because I thought the old one was dead, but after putting the new one in everything seemed fine and trunk, doors, radio, lights all worked. I turned the key and...

Sounds like a loose connection on the battery. Clean and tighten them, and check the battery ground. Is the starter cable on tight? If still nothing, a shop needs to check the ignition switch for a defect.

Cadillac sts dead battery cant open car with remote key fob

Don't you still have a door key?Otherwise jack up the car and remove the engine under body cover.Between the radiator support and the engine are some hard lines.Remove the two brackets holding them, this will allow you room to get to the starter.Hook the red end of a jumper cable to the red battery cable that's connected to the starter.Black to a suitable ground and charge the battery.A battery charger is easier to use,use that if you have one.If jumping off a car make sure the cables are hooked to the dead car first and grounded to the engine not the battery of the car doing the charging.Sure hope this helps!

1998 cadillac sts wont start

you have a large drin in the system, look for a shorted circuit and a drain test(with a test light between the positive pole of your battery and the engine off, start pullinf fuses out and see when the test light goes off,if theres is a drain that will be your circuit to check.

place the test light one end (the alligator clip to the cable and the point of the light to the + pole.

When I turn the key on my car the radio and inside lights come on

I had the same problem for about five months, sometimes the car started for two months than all of a sudden it make take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour to get it to turn over. Final analysis (when it finally would not start for two days) a new starter was needed. (2001 Cadillac STS)

Charging a battery on a 2001 Caddy sts

when charging a battery it is better that it is disconnected from the car's battery cables and even better if removed, also don't charge it if you smell a rotten egg odor, the cell(s) may be shorted and it could explode. remember red to positive, black to negative, hook the positive up first. don't overcharge the battery, 2 or 3 hours at 4-6 amps is enough charge to have it tested, if it won't charge then the battery is defective and needs to be replaced.

It sounds like you have a shorted cell in your battery. My Blazer had the same symptoms and needed a new battery.
