You do have a coolant leak, coolant is on the ground under the car then? The noise you describe is from a badly overheated engine. I think you have blown head gaskets

Testimonial: "I have parked on clean cardboard no coolant showed up mechanic had it run on a lift for around 45 minutes they said they could not find a leak no coolant leaking said maybe it was going onto the pistons and evaporating a.the oil is fine nothing mixing in it no smoke coming from the exhaust no motor knocks no valve taps no pings no misfire"

Like I said blown cylinder head gaskets. If this is a 3.8L V6 that is absolutely for sure they are blown.

It sounds like your AC compressor is going bad. Most vehicles also turn on the AC when in defrost mode, since the AC also acts as a dehumidifier.

Replaced water pump & thermostat, flushed heater core and still have only a constant warm air but wont heat up. There is not an electric heater control. Could it be in my dash panel?

YOU MAY HAVE A AIR BUBBLE IN YOUR SYSTEM. NO MATTER HOW HOT THE CAR GETS IT WON'T PUSH HEAT THROUGH THE AIR BUBBLE. LOOK FOR THE HIGHEST POINT IN YOUR COOLING SYSTEM. I SUSPECT A HEATER HOSE. YOU HAVE TO GET THE AIR OUT OF IT.

Rattling noise from heater core, even when heater is off

One of the heat transfer "fins" sounds like it has seperated from the tubes allowing it to rattle on you. Its a heat transfer deal that may cause a tink tink kind of sound as the heat makes it expand and cooling by way of air passing by it. You could replace it, or try to hold each fin and bend whatever one is making the noise.

Rattle in low gears when clutch is let out...

Subaru's are notorious for having exhaust rattles from the heat shields on the catalytic converter.

Does the noise go away or lessen when the engine gets hot? I know it seems unrelated, but on my 2002 Impreza it made a lower groan sound at first when ever I would shift gears as the engine speed (RPM) dropped. I put up with it for a year then finally I got a stainless steel hose clamp from the hardware store and put it around the heat shield.

Truly I should just get a new catalytic converter, they are around $200, but the hose clamp stopped the noise.

This might not have anything to do with it your noise. It is a cheap and easy fix though.

Good Luck
