All of these engines I am told by a 30 year volvo mechanic have problems with the wet liners, these surround the cylinders and help to cool engine, I have had 2 V40 phase2 T4s and they both have the problem you describe. The first had its cylinder head scimmed pressure tested an put back on, but the problem lies lower down and if you go to a garage the usual mis conception is the heads gone, but trust me its the wet liners, and most if not all of the high output turbos have this prob, boiling water pressure in the top hose etc

first make sure the fan is comming on when it gets warm. i would replace the thermostate any way whats 12.00 now vs 2,800 to replace the engen latter. also i would change out the sending unit that goes to the cluster. also disconect the neg. side battery and turn the fan by hand it should spin very easy i belive this vehicle has 2 fans. if they turn frely reconet thr battery start the vehicle turn on ac if both fans do not come on you may have a bad fan relay good luck.

Cefiro '97 2,5L over-heating. I bought this car yesterday and drove it home 200kms away. At about 150km the temp gauge showed high temp and I stopped for the night. This morning the radiator was

This may be an electrical issue in the dash and a phantom problem. I would suggest measuring the water temperature in the radiator to see if it matches the guage (normal temperature should be around 90decC. Higher revs would increase water flow via the water pump not lower it so I am thinking some kind of restriction - check your radiator fins are not blocked there could be blockages in the radiator or less likely in the block valleys, other things to check are that your hoses are in good condition and they don't flatten with heat. A faulty thermostat is also possible.

I have a 2002 porshe boxter replaced water pump, thermostant and it still over heats

Have it tested for hydrocarbons in the radiator water. It may have a Blown head gasket. Also watch temp. guage and see if the Coolant fans start spining when it reaches operating temp.

2002 ford escape temp guage says normal water will blow out of the degas bottle when engine reaches temp had to replace radiator trans cooler was leaking into radiator also replaced thermostat

Blown radiator hose? Might have blown a head gasket right there, which would continually send hot bubbles into the cooling system and degas bottle. If you see bubbles continually,it's a head gasket probably.
Might be the degas cap not releasing at 16 psi or your cooling system has air in it, OR your cooling fan is not actuating. Many things.
Also I have gotten 3 out of 5 bad thermostats from aftermarket stores. Get a Motorcraft thermostat. Did you replace with a NEW radiator?

1995 mitsubishi Galant 2,4 v6 overheating replaced thermostat and flushed system fine for a while with some rise in temp at times now pressurising water out header tank and temp gauge does not move above...

a few things to check before we condemn it as a leaking head gasket(pressurising water out).
First check the radiator cap seal,no cracks and that it takes some pressure to push the spring loaded part down.
Does both the top and lower radiator hose get hot as temp gets to normal(where thermostat should be open).if not,the thermostat may be a faulty one or has slipped out of seat as the cover was bolted back down onto it.(temperature will differ either side of it).I have had some of these come in with part of the waterpump impellor rotted away.same symptom of one hot and one cold hose, and water doesnt flow inside radiator with cap off(ensure this is not removed if engine is hot)and temp where the thermo should be open.
Possibly the radiator needs sending out for the top or side tank to be removed and each tube cleaned out.this is a lot more effective than trying to reverse flush with water only.
But if temp is normal these areas should be fine.
Do the hoses swell with pressure and become hard to squeeze in a short time?this could reveal a leaking head gasket and should be tested with a teekay type tester for the presence of cylinder gases in cooling system.
Do the fan(s) come on if sitting idling at normal temp for 5-10mins?water can be pushed out if they dont come on or their cut in/out temp is incorrect.hope this helps.
let me know some times re when it pushes water out,do you hear a boiling sound from inside engine or radiator when this happens, any other info that may help diagnose.

Temperature guage up

temp guages are just a guide, they vary considrably, and as long as the car runs fine,no warning lights/lack of power all is fine....(depends what you are used to,mine runs at 110 with a guage from 80 to 120.)

sounds like the head or head gasket is blown. your cylinders may be getting coolant in them which will not only cause the motor to lockup, but also cause bent rods and valves. check your oil dipstick and transmission dipstick to see if it looks like water or coolant is presant, also check the coolant to see if it smells like gas or has any kind of oil in it, if so, your head is likely blown.

Still losing coolant

Hi, Sounds like the water pump is not circulating the water, as soon as the engine heats what water is in it, it will boil. Since you are brave enough to open the radiator when it is hot ( Bad Idea ! ) open it when it is cold, start the car and watch to see if the coolant circulates. You may have to wait unit the thermostat opens and if the water pump is bad when the thermostat opens it may spray hot coolant and steam instead of circulating what is in the radiator so don't be in the way. Not the best way to test this but works if you don't have diagnostic tools. Good Luck! By the way, coolant means antifreeze mixture which if it gets too thin lowers the boiling point significantly.
