Check Engine Light - 2000 Honda Accord

Last week, I took my 2000 Honda Accord in for an oil change and multi-point inspection. They said I would need a new air filter and engine compartment filter soon. Two days later, my check engine light came on, and stayed on. Could this be related to needing a filter or something else?

It could be that the air filter housing is worn and thats why they said you needed a new one what that means is that you are getting to much air into the engine and will cause check engine light to come on i would replace that and then see if it goes off and then if not go to a auto zone and they check the light and see what it is and then go from there

Oil light comes erratically on 92 accord

my guess is one of three things:

1. clogged inlet or worn out oil pump gears: change oil pump
2. Engine is tired and has leaky loose bearings and journals, hemorrhaging oil out all internally bleeding places. Engine flush unclogged the varnish that was holding oil pressure up. Rebuild engine or change when current engine blows.
3. Bad oil pressure sensor causing strange readings. Diagnose actual oil pressure and change sensor if needed.

These vintage honda engines are everywhere for cheap at junkyards. i wouldnt pay more than 350 for one.

Low compression in cylinder 1 and burning oil

If your rings are worn or the cylinder wall is gouged, pressure will escape and oil will leak into the cylinder and get burned. Keep your eye on the oil level and you should be ok for a while. If you live in a warm climate, you might try a slightly heavier weight oil.

When our speedometer and odometer went out it in our 94 honda accord it was due to our vehicle speed sensor being bad... once we replaced it with a new one, everything worked fine. I'm not sure about the rpm indicator though because that wasn't affected in ours... I hope this helps

What type of Honda Civic do you have? There is a difference between the LX and EX civic exhaust systems. And your vehicle will not pass inspection with your check engine light on.

Check engine light comes on because engine computer has detected a fault. It could be anything, from a cheap sensor to an important component out of specifications, to a service reminder. Most shops (not necessarily Honda dealers, ) have the diagnostic equipment to hook it up to your car and tell you what is wrong, before fixing anything. Usual rates for this diagnostic is below $100, including quote for repair.

Maintenance light is blinking for a while in 2005 honda accord

To reset your light do the following:

1-Push maintence reminder button in and hold it in. (thats the button near the speedo on the insturment cluster)
2-Turn the ignition to the on position while holding button in.
3-Wait several seconds until the light goes out, then let go of the button.
It is now reset

Now this is the maintaince light and not the check engine light correct? If then just follow above and do that.

Also if you don't use Fram oil filters you can go 5000miles on your oil and be safe. Even honda says you can do 7000miles but 5000 gives you a buffer if you need to go over.

PO 171 fuel system to lean to bank 1 97 Honda Accord 165k miles

Yes. I would clean the engine with engine cleaner and then watch for any oul leaks. For you to use that much oil there would be a major leak. If no leaks check to see if blue smohe is coming out you tailpipe. If not keep an eye on is I this it will be fine if none of these things are wrong. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate my answer. thanks.
