There are bolts on the side of it and on the back and posiblly the bottom. take them out. just watch when you take out the ones in the middle of the back side your handel will fall out. take off that black cover.and you should be able to see inside of the tail gate.

Take it apart and lube everthing, then put back together. This has been working for 1 1/2 years with out a problem for now.

I have the same problem. I found that the release on the locking mecanism, on the tailgate itself, is the problem. What I have done, and has worked , before I close the tailgate, i pull on the handle that you would normally use to open it with, a couple of times then close the tailgate. i then pull back on the tailgate to make sure it cannot easily open. Hope this helps. I realize this is a temporary fix but it works for now.

Renault Clio Phase 2 - tailgate. Anyone know if

tail gates are completely assembled before fitting on the assembly line and that includes the wiring harness for the gate . So I would expect a harness connector either in side the gate or in a body panel trim close to the gate.

TAILGATE OPEN WARNING LIGHT IS ON WHEN TAILGATE IS CLOSED

Sound like your tail gate switch has failed or maybe a fuse

I would take these actions :

1. Check fuses
2. Replace Tailgate switch
3. Take to Auto electrician as it could be a short in your wiring harness.

Hope this helps

The latch in the middle of the tailgate is (or was) connected to the two latched on both ends of the tailgate that held the tail gate closed. Over the years, the two wires have become detached from the two...

You have to remove the handle assembly and the latches. Working through the hole where the handle is, work the throught the edge of the tailgate and fasten to the latch assembly, then install the latch assembly. Once both latch assemblies are connected, reintall the handle assembly.

I have a similar problem, my tailgate stopped working with the outside handle and the remote but can be opened manually from the inside. I don't have an alarm so there is no problem with that but did you get a solution for the tailgate problem that I could try?

How to replace the tailgate hinge (tailgate side). There is only 1 bolt visable and once it is remove the hing still won't come off.

There are 2 bolts according to the GM service site. One on the side and one on the bottom of the tail gate. You will need to remove the tail gate to access the bottom bolt. Good Luck

1996 Isuzu Rodeo stuck tail gate

Remove the interior trim panel which will not be easy since the gate is up ---- you can then access the lock mechanism and will probably find a bent linkage rod or a broken plastic retainer clip.
