Another Big End Gone

Same problem...My 2000 Subaru Forrester GT's big end went. It has been sitting on the street now for 6 months...We dont know what to do with it...What kind of price to fix a big end? Does it need a new engine or is it just a matter changing some bearings?

Its a serious job to change the bearings second hand engine prob your best bet,its known to happen every now and again an ive been told its down to incorrect oil and/or a weak oil pump (i was a subaru mechanic for a number of years). and as it happens im about to replace the big end in my b4 legacy in the morning!!! not looking forward to it but wanna gonna do? i know to pay someone to do the job be very expensive as its very labour intensive.get a second hand one.

Could you tell me exactly what you consider the big end. What is it doing or not doing.

How do I get my Samsung phone GT s5511T to reconnect to my 2015 Subaru Forrester

First: The Forester's radio/Bluetooth is almost brain dead. We should ALL demand Subaru to provide firmware (software) update to correct to numerous problems with this system.

To somewhat correct your problem:

1. Reserve a big amount of time and patient. It will be painful!
2. Navigate the menus to reset all the radio's Bluetooth settings. Make sure that no phone or device is paired with the radio.
3. Reconnect (pair) your phone to the radio by pressing the TALK button on the steering wheel and follow the voice prompts. Do not pair your phone to the radio by pressing buttons on the radio.

NOTE: ONLY ONE PHONE can be connected to the Subaru's radio system and used automatically when starting the car. Kind-of. If you have another phone or user, then... good luck!

MY ENGINE HAS A KNOCK TO IT

you need to establish if its bottom end or top end. if bottom end big end bearings have gone then its a big job ( easier to replace engine ) and if its top end ( cam ) then its a mornings job. big difference. hope this helps

Binding on tight turns are usally caused by a fault in the transmission tail end.
You can check in the following order.
1. Trans fuel level/ Change several time to flush the system..
2. Speed Sensor that sits on top of the tail end.
3. Duty-C Solenoid inside the tail end
3. Clutch Pack

You can try getting the top end clean which includes cleaning the throttle body and chemicaly cleaning the carbon from the back of the valves and the intake runners. You could also try changing the Knock Sensor.

Knocking noise from engine at > 2000 RPM.. any ideas??

it does sound like a big end bearing and yes the piston will come outta the bloc k eventually if you keep driving
it can be replaced no need for a new engine
you will need a engine if it does come outta the side
but to fix a big end is not that much, if u need a new engine for your veichle is about a few grand

but 100 percent big end bearing i done one last week on a suburu wrx imprezza turb all up it was 550 or so
