Question about 1998 Toyota Corolla

1 Answer

Toyota corolla 98 1.6L unleaded does not start

I put a new battery but the problem persists. I filled up the gaz tank. I have to try several time, including opening the hood and pushing the gaz pedal to the bottom while turning the key to the start position; and finally it starts. The phenomena is when I turn to start nothing happens, I try again with the gaz pedal fully pressed, nothing happens, no sound, sometime a sound of a click, I open the hood (we are in south of France, in July, 20 to 30 °C), I try alternating without pushing the gaz pedal and with, every time I turn the key to off position and then to start.

The alternator ground must be loose... try tracing the both negative and positive... tighten the connection... if problem persists try replacing the alternator

Do you have an engine light on? Sounds like the tank isnt venting properly, if you can peak under the car near the gas filler neck, check for a small pipe/hose going to the top of the neck, check for corrosion or anything odd and start with that.

Needs to know the best recommended fuel type for my toyota corolla 1993 model

Hi!!

You should be using regular unleaded. This is "regular" 87-octane gasoline. You have no reason to need gas with a higher octane, it would be a waste, stick to 87.

Good luck!!

I filled the subtank with unleaded instead of dieselhow do i drain it

You need to remove tank from vehicle and drain. Then take UNLEADED and put 2 gallons in rinse with unleaded redrain and then reinstall and put gas in. This will prevent engine damage.

Engine light after i overfill gaz tank

This is a Vacuum inside the Fuel Tank Situation. Remove your ECM Fuse from the Fuse Panel for 1 Min. Should Clear your Trouble Codes to the Computer. Next time just Stop on the Click when Filling up!

1999 Toyota Corolla CE. For about 2 months, the engine does not start immediately. I need to turn the ignition key several times until it starts. Each time when I turn the key, a clicking sound happens...

it sounds like either your having a short at the starter or the ignition switch is bad, I am leaning towards the issue being the starter, usually when the ignition switch is going bad there will be no click,
