The fuel filter for 93 to 99 dodge neon is inside the gas tank. it is part of the fuel pump. to replace it you have to replace the whole thing. the part is beween $280 and $340 depending whether you have a metal or plastic fuel tank. i had this same thing a week ago with my 97 neon.
p1494 isnt for the purge solenoid it is for a mechanical switch failure detected in the leak detection pump. as long as the pump has vacuum going to it the likely cause is the pump itself. it is attached to the vapor canister
