Your key in the outside door lock will also serve as a way to turn on and off the vehicles anti-theft.There is a sweep switch in the lock cylinder that will accomplish the same thing as pressing the fob button.Hopefully this is not malfunctioning as well.

Remote and key will not unlock the door

When Your Keyless Entry Doesn't Work
  1. Make Sure the Problem Is the Remote: Chances are that your car came with a backup keyless entry device or key fob, so be sure to try that backup one first to make sure that the problem is indeed associated with the non-working key. If the second/backup key fob doesn't work, then the problem lies within the car itself. This can be due to a number of things, including a broken transmitter or memory card and faulty locking mechanisms (such as when door lock switches and motors burn out).
  2. Replace the Battery: Most automotive key fobs can simply be split open via a small slot on the side of the remote, and inside you will find a small coin battery. When a keyless entry device stops working, the first thing you should do is replace that battery, especially if that device is over a year old. The old battery will have a number on it that will indicate the battery size. If you are afraid of breaking the device, you can always bring it to a battery store and have them do it for you. eprogram the Remote: A third common problem seen with car remotes involves loss of memory. This problem is especially seen when there has been a faulty battery in the device. Fortunately, reprograming the remote is a simple process. In most cases, all you need do is enter the vehicle with your key, close the doors, and reprogram the remote by inserting the key in the ignition. Don't start the car but rather rapidly flip the key back and forth between the first and second settings until you hear a chime (similar to a door ajar signal). Press one of the remote buttons (this confirms the programming operation) and then wait for a second chime. Finally, remove the keys from the ignition, exit the vehicle and close and lock all doors, and wait around 20 seconds before trying the remote again to see if it works. Do keep in mind that the exact steps for programming a particular key fob will depend on the make, model, and year of the vehicle, so always consult your owner's manual for specific instructions.

94 full size blazer keyless remote doesn't work.

Does the spare remote work? Have you tried to reprogram it? These remotes are very cheaply made and prone to key pad failure. To program the remote click this LINK, if that doesn't work buy anew one on eBay for cheap.

How do you program new spare key for 2007 rodeo RA?

if its the ignition key it must be done by a dealer and have a lage black plastic head which has got a transponder in it. If you got a blank key cut at the locksmith it will turn the locks but wont start the car. Usually you get the dealer to do both supply ignition key and then get it cut, then they can program it.

but if your asking how to program the keyless entry remote follow this procedure.
take note step 5 is different for different year models.

Make sure that all the doors are closed and unlocked and wait for dome light to go out before starting.

Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch

Open drivers door

3 on/lock

Close/open drivers door

Wait 8 secs

On/lock/on (MY06-07) OR 2 on/lock OR on/lock (MY08)

Close drivers door

Hazards flash

Press remote & keep pressing one button & then the other slowly(2 secs) until locks start working(they wont operate if key is in ignition).

I have a 98 GMC JIMMY. Remotes and Dome Lights stopped working. Car would start then immediately die. Took it to the dealer and they stated it was the Body Control Modual (BMC). Picked up the vehicle...

Keyless Entry System Circuit Description
The Power Door Locks/Remote Keyless Entry control system provides several functions. The driver operates the vehicle door locks and rear window release from outside the vehicle using a hand-held radio transmitter. The transmitter sends coded signals to the remote control door lock receiver. The remote control door lock receiver detects and decodes the signal from the transmitter. The remote control door lock receiver issues signals to the body control module (BCM) through a serial data link. The BCM actuates relays to lock and unlock the doors and liftgate. The BCM can also release the liftglass. The power door lock switches provide manual control of the door locks.

Transmitter Programming
Important: Different keyless entry systems are used on General Motors vehicles. The parts are not interchangeable even though the parts may appear to be similar. Observe the back of the transmitter in order to properly identify the system. On 1998 S/T pickups and utilities, use a transmitter identified with GM/UTA preceding the part number.
With the driver door closed, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Release the power unlock button on the door panel.
The remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner in order to indicate that the receiver is in the programming mode:
6.1. Locking the doors
6.2. Unlocking the doors
Important: All extra transmitters must be programmed at this time. When a new transmitter is programmed, it will deactivate the old transmitters.
Hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter until the remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner:
7.1. Locking the doors.
7.2. Unlocking the doors.
Repeat step 7 for each additional transmitter.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.
