Question about 2001 Chevrolet Venture
2004 Chevy venture LT; temp guage goes to the red zone. when you turn it off and let it sit for a while (30, 60, 90+ minutes) the guage does not go down to near zero but stays about 1/2 way. Then as you drive it goes to the redzone. It's almost like it doesn't zero out or go back to normal. If normal is a 1/3 increase on the guage, after it's been stuck 1/3 increase puts it close to the red zone. I have had the thermostat and water pump replaced. Dealer did a pressure test. The radiator cap is usually cool to the touch and there is fluid in the resevoir. As an aside, I used to have an issue with spark plug 1 burning but that doesn't happen anymore. Meaning that I used to get the check engine lite and knocking; upon removing plug 1 it was all burnt up. Most recently I found the speedopmeter stuck at 30mph
Check the make sure you have no air in your system if there is an air bubble trapped in behind the thermostat your thermostat wont open and your car will heat up and stay hot while letting a small amount of coolant through the bypass so it wont overheat
