Repacing fuel pump on 2000 mercury grand marquis

All Fuel Pumps are inside the fuel tank

Have to drop the tank down & remove pump
from the top

Been that way for 25 years

First you have to diagnose the real problem
Can't assume the pump is bad

Have you checked the fuel pressure since you replaced the pump ?
Did you jumper the relay to make the pump run and see if the engine will run ?

My 89 jeep cherokee won't. Start it will turn over

what motor? is the coil producing spark?? If so, check the fuel pressure, if the fuel pressure is low drop the tank, repace the pump and also replace the filter (located on the frame forward of the tank). If the coil is not producing spark, check for shorts or opens in the circuits as well as the IGN fuses. If there is NO fuel pressure at all check the fuel pump fuses and make sure the fuel pump is plugged in and there are no opens in the circuit

Do this car have two fuel pumps and need location please

Not real familiar with Mercedes but most are located inside the fuel tank. Will have to drop tank. I recommend repacing with the OEM pump.

The crankshaft sensor is most likely the problem, this tells the computer to pulse the injectors, therefore sparing the fuel in the cylinders.

Repaced rotor cap plugs wires, ran fine. tell

First thing I would do is change your fuel filter. Check all vacuum lines and all your wire connections. Also check fuel pump relay to see if it is faulty or if there is shorted wires under the relay or fuse blocks.

you should check the pressure in the fuel lines going to your carb. or fuel injector and if pressure is good that would mean the relays are still doing there job

Cranks but no start

yes there is a fuel regulator but i will recomend you to inspect and or replace fuel pump relay, and fuel pump fuse, also have some one to be close to the fuel tank and turn the ignition switch on, he or she should be hable to hear the fuel pump coming on for 2 or three seconds, if not there is an electrical problem, posible fuse, or relay, but if it does then repace the ignition module inside the distribuitor
