My 1997 BMW will not start, it has no power. - 1997 BMW 3 Series

    The first question I have is when you put key in ignition does anything click or lights come on or anything? tell you the cars battery has any jucie.

Check the ignition relay and the mostcommon problem with them bmw,s is damp gets into the brain and corrodes the circuit board , the brain is located under the bonnet up at the top right hand corner behind a plastic cover which needs srewed of to check this, if it is the brain and you replace it , it will then need reprogramed

u need a new key or its the ignition its self if u go to the dealer ship u can buy a new ignition and the key comes with it or u can try a new key but if u buy a key its just as expensive as duying the whole ignition

That clicking sound is the starter solenoid, starter might be jam or gone bad, while some one hold key to start, hit starter if jam will start, if it don't starter will have to be replace.

Bmw 323 1996 just lacks power, surges as you yake


Possible clogged fuel filter, faulty ignition system (ie. plugs and wires) faulty injectors. Start with the fuel filter. Good Luck

give the stater motor a whack with a hammer if not that the its your battery its dead just because your lights widows and all work bmw cars are funny that way they require alot of power on initial start up

Bmw 1997 tds compact slow on acceleration using a lot of diesel any cure put new heater plugs in but this was because of the slow start second gear there is no power on hills


Depending on your mileage, you may need to refurbish your turbo as its on its way out if your getting very low power or you can remap. I have got mine remapped to 120 bhp and mpg/torque is awsome.
