Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer

1 Answer

02 Mitsu Lancer Rear lights not working

When I use the brakes, the rear lights are not functioning. I check the two fuses under the hood and they're good. The center brake light functions when I depress on the brakes, but not the other two. I'm suspecting the ECU, but am I barking up the wrong tree?

I checked the bulbs and both sides look good (no broken filaments). Looking at the Mitsubishi schematic, I can only imagine it could be the ECU or like you said, broken wire or loose connection.

Are the bulbs good? And i highly doubt your ecu has taken a ****. Check the wires going in are they tight in their connector or are they loose ?

You will need to check the contacts where the bulb inserts for arcing, causing a short. Test for power and ground at the conn. 2 b sure you have power there. If this is the case you will need to replace the light assembly.

Rear brake lights on a 1998 pontiac sunfire wont work

Check your wiring from the lights to the front..The wires go under the rear seat and they sometimes come pinched..Theres a bad wire or connection there somewhere..Just try and follow the wires up to the fuse box..It could even be corded under the fuse box,Hope this helps you..And Have A Great day..

Switch module in steering column will need to be replaced or the brake switch itself at the pedal. There was actually a recall for the pedal switch that came out in early 02 Usually the switch in the column about $125.00 at the aftermarket parts stores
