Why do we have an Oder that smells and burns our eyes when blower is turned on?

We used an air hose to blow through the blower motor and air channels. Although it helped it is still an issue. Is it possible that a buildup of dust and dirt could cause this?

First check the air intake to the climate system. ie. the cabin filter etc. for contamination.its more than likeley the blower speed control unit is faulty. may be resistance or electronic module depending on vehicle. sounds like plastic is overheating to give that problem. without knowing what vehicle it is the only clue that i can give you is that the speed control will be in the air intake before the climate unit ie. heater/aircon behind the dash. hope this helps.

'04 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L w/Air not auto temp. I don't have any air blowing until i set it to the highest. There is a high pitched squeal and a burning smell so I turned it off

Blower motor speed reducing dropper resistor gets hot in normal use and it is generally positioned in the heater air intake to aid with cooling - without adequate cooling there is a danger of fire.

If the blower motor has shorted internal wiring or tight semi-seized bearings the motor will consume more current and cause the resistor to become even hotter, possibly causing it to fail.

The screaming noise is typical of a motor bearing trouble...

My 2001 grand marquis heater turns on but wont blow i smelled a strange smell before it quit

Could have been the resistor or the blower motor. It was probably a burning wire smell.
Check the blower motor for power and ground.

A: The blower's wire is burn or the blower itself is bad.
Q: Every thing work but just No Heat ?
A: Make sure coolant (water) is full.
Q: Coolant/Water is full but still No Heat ?
A: Heater hose is restrick (Clog)

Replaced a resistor in chrysler 2004 town and country, now weird smell whe defroster is on... The front vents wouldnt blow out any air, just quit working. The rear vents worked fine. Now strange smell...

Pull the blower motor out and clean out the leaves and other vegetable matter that has gotten in there, it is burning off on the very hot blower motor resistor coils

My air conditioner on my 1999 kia sportage smell like smoking and like burning went turn on

do you turn on fan when using a/c ! if so heres a few causes-- burning smell in car, blower motor is going bad, or resistor is burning up.the resistor controls the fan speeds. good-day !

The burning smell could be due to gas leakage in the engine compartment. The gas smell is being sucked into the fresh air intake of the air conditioner. It can be avoided by checking either fuel pressure regulator or fuel injector.

Chevy Aveo strange smell and smoke coming through the vent with air conditioning on. Checked engine-OK. Turned up air conditioning full blast...after 30 seconds...little more smell and smoke it stopped...

If the blower motor is still working, that was not the problem-the strange smell might have been from some bacteria in the plenium, and the smoke may have just been the result of condensation from the evaporator in the plenium-keep an eye on it, but if the blower is working, I would not be overly concerned about it.

Front heater will not blow air...heat trickles out... have smelled burning smell when put on high....rear heat works fine

It sounds like the blower motor has burned out. It probably ruined the blower motor resistor at the same time. I think the blower motor is right by the right (passenger side) hood hinge and the resistor is just under the motor.

1994 GMC Sonoma Heater Problem

Sounds like either your motor or blower resistor is going bad.Gm blower motors tend to go bad from what i have seen.My chevy pickup is on its 3rd motor. There is also a hose that is connected to it that when the air blows it directs some to the motor to keep it cool. You can check that but it is probably your motor
