Question about 1995 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

I have a 2006 dodge charger that is stuck in park

When the brake pedal is pressed, the gear selector will act as it will shift. It won't come out of park as if it is locked in that position. My remote battery for the key died so I would manually unlock and lock the car. Could this have caused the problem?

There is a switch on the brake pedal that wont let the gear selector move unless the brake is pressed. If the switch is broken, loose or not connected, you can not shift it out of park.

My 2006 charger is stuck in park in the driveway

Try rocking the car back and forth while trying to shift out of park.
Some cars need the brake pedal pressed to shift as well...

Had a caravan once and if it was placed in park and it rolled slightly, it would put pressure on the trans...locking it up to where I couldn't shift out of park.

Hope this helps...

I have a 2006 charger hemi, the gear stuck in park. How do I get it ou of park

its might have something to do with your brake lights. if the computer doesnt sense the brake lights come when u hit the pedal it wont release the car from park. to temporarily get your car out of park, remove the coin tray that on the side of the shifter, just give it a good tug, ull see a pink lever the console, just push the pink level while shifting the handle and you'll be good to good. fyi u only need to push that pink lever when shifting from park.

I have a 2007 dodge charger, and the gear shift is stuck in park. What could be the problem?

I would suggest to search in relation to the brake pedal.......The brake pedal must be pressed in all newer vehicles to shift gears, therefore, if the mechanism of the brake pedal is not doing it's job, it may be keeping the transmission for shifting out of park.

I cannot get the gear to shift down

check the brake lights, the shifter has a safety feature that will not allow u to shift out of park if your foot is not on the brake and the brake lights are working, if the brake lights are working there is a bypass to get it out of park under a little cover next to the shift handle.

Can't get my 2000 ford taurus out of park

The gear selector is locked until the system detects the brake pedal is being pressed, the brake circuit then sends a signal to the shifter release solenoid to pull a pin back and let you shift out of park, this is a safety feature required by federal law, U need to have someone see if the brake lights go on when you press the pedal, if they don't check the switch at the top of the brake pedal, if the brake lights work then the little solenoid is defective.
