Question about 1995 Honda Passport

2 Answers

I have a 1995 honda passport.sometimes it will start, sometimes it wont. sometimes after it is running for a while it will die and not restart. i was testing elect conections today. found i also have no blower for heater, also with tester on one side of blower fuse i show continutity for ground and pos. so i am pretty sure there is a short in the harness. hopefully you can save me a hole bunch of time and describe what harness has both the blower wires and the fuel pump. thank you

all the fuses are good, what didnt make since to me was that on one side of where the blower fuse plugs in shows con on one side to the neg and pos of the batt. everything else on the car seems to be working. just no fuel pump, and no blower motor. and i do have 12 volts at the fuel pump fuse, thats why i was thinking maybe a shorted wire, but there are a bunch of harnesses in the engine comp.

This is a tough one. Last time I had a short on my wiring harness, I had to open it out and did mostly rewiring since a lot of electricians seemed to have worked on the car (a toyota) when I got it. My fuel pump was one of the items that was affected. Only in my case the fuse blew because of the short. You may want to check the EFI relay found under the dashboard. It may be affected by the short and it could be around the relay's area. Have the relay tested. You can have the pump tested if you directly connect it to the battery however if the short was after the fuse towards the pump then the fuse should have gone out. I suspect that it is on the vecinity of the relay. See also if there is signal from the ECU and if the ECU fuse is still OK just to be sure.

This might help. Below is a wiring diagram for honda passport. The wiring especially for the ignition should differ only a little but. Use the tester to test each nodes to identify where the short is.

First think of the fuse as one hot wire. How you test one is you should have battery voltage on both sides. If you had a short it would blow the fuse. Look at it. remove it. If it blown you will see it. It should have 0 resistance when tested.

Now as far as our problem goes since you have a couple things not working I would be looking to replacing the main relay.. Check all other fuses under the hood and in the cab. Being an intermittent problem I would be hard pressed to recommend a fuel pump or New distributor assemble.
A fuel pressure gauge really should be used to test the pump and keep it hooked up till the problem is seen again.

The main relay is siimple to swap out but can be a pain to get to. Its on the side under the dash left of the steering wheel. Buy one first before so you know what your looking at

I charge my battery on my 2001 Honda passport it

Could be the battery or alternator. To check the alternator. Start the vehicle, then remove the negative side of the battery post. If it dies, replace the alternator. Have the battery checked with a load tester.

Turn the AC system off, this includes defrost settings as well. I think your AC compressor is locked up on the engine.

2000 Honda Passport wont start.

I ended up finding a repair shop here in Cleveland. The problem ended up being a short in the electrical system. My fuse kept blowing. That's why it wouldn't restart. If you decide to take your vehicle to a repair shop, have them check out the electrical system. My problem was found under the drivers side fender. Some of the wires were corroded. Good luck!

1994 HONDA PASSPORT 2.4 CRANKS, RUNS 5 SECONDS, THEN DIES

I have a 2000 Honda Passport. Once mine stalled, it would not restart. Sounded as if out of gas. I thought fuel pump. Took it to service station. They found a short in the electrical system. The fuse kept popping. They replaced blown fuse in coil and module. The tested misc wiring in main harness. They found and repaired bad wires in main harness for module and coils in left front inner fender.
