'06 Chrysler Pacifica w/sunroof: When it rains water is leaking out of the front door frame covers and sun visor screws. (Sun roof is closed.)

When it rains water is catching in the channels around the closed sun roof and draining out down the side columns of the front doors. It is coming out over the tops of the plastic door guards. Now it running out of the screw holes on the sides and the screw holes of the sun visor and beginning to leak around the center roof console with the interior lights. Is there a set of drain holes that could be plugged with fir needles/silt? I can't find them.

Hi i'm not familar with your car but if you can wind the sunroof back so the sunroof is fully open look at all four corners where the sunroof sits into there should be at least 2 drain holes which can over time become clogged with debris, if you find them use some warm water and flexi pipe to clean the drain holes out. hope this helps

Thanks! After I posted this question, it popped to several other leaky sunroof posts.
I went out and opened the sunroof and found a small lake of standing water and another in the footwell. I did find the drain holes and threaded some stiff weed hacker line down the holes.
That did the trick! I followed the first pass with warm water and a touch of bleach to eat at our constant companion, green algae in the drainage tracks.
Now to remove as much water from the carpet as possible and see if that solves the problem permanently.

Hi.
I was having trouble with my sun roof on a 2004 Montecarlo. I had two issues water coming in and would not operate fully. I could toggle the switch and it would not move very far. this is what I found. I started to pull down the lining and saw that the motor was in front of the sun roof.
I found the drain lines on the front side corners of the tray around the inside of the sun roof. I found that the tube ran down the pillar's and out between the door hinge's. I took them off and blow them out one was plugged up. That fixed the water problem. The roof would move with help from me pushing. I got it opened and noticed the grease was hard. I cleaned up the grease and removed most of it with WD40.
Now the sun roof works good as new.
I thought the water problem was because the roof was not fully closed but I guess it is designed to have water pass by the roof seal and have it drain away. I always noticed water under the car after a rain or a car wash but did not realize iit was the sun roof draining.

Volvo S80 has water leak on the driver side front floor. Happens when it rains.

If you have a sun roof, the drain hose may be off. If so,remove the sun visor and pull down the head liner, to get to the hose and drain fitting on the sun roof opening

2001 Volvo V70 with sun roof...car sitting in heavy rain..return to car both front drivers side and passenger side footwells were full of water. What could cause this..no the windows were not open or the...

Not familiar with the Volvo, but many cars (Toyota, Lexus, Acura, Honda, etc.) have drain holes at the corners of the sun roof assembly. These holes allow water that gets past the sunroof gasket to drain through tubes that carry the water to the bottom of the car, where it exits the car.

These drain holes are prone to clogging. If the Volvo setup is like those cars mentioned, you can see the front drain holes by opening the sunroof and looking closely at the two front corners of the assembly that holds the sunroof. I have used plastic weedeater line to open up these lines. Compressed air can also be used.

Front sun roof leaking could it be the drainage pipes ,does the drainage pipe come down by front wheels, could i blow with air line?

Generally with the sun roof, If you open it and look in from above, If the drainage is blocked you will see excess water that wont go away. If there is no excess water then the chances of it being a blockage are minimal, its more likely to be a gap in the rubber seal allowing the water to seap through to the interior. If it is the seal, which i guess it is as they crack over time, then these are generally quite cheap from your local motor store.

These often leak between the sunroof and the roof skin, get back to me if you want to do it youself, sealing outside will not work for long and do not use silicon sealer at all.

07 Equinox Leaking water at the front corners of the sun roof. usually during heavy rain, but also when going thru the car wash and the blowers come on to dry the water off.

check the adjustment of your sunroof, i work at a dealer and i just had a 2006 equinox in with the same exact problem, if you look at where the glass attaches to the sunroof rails you will see 2 torx screws on each side, with the sunroof closed, loosen the screws a little bit, don't remove them, push the glass up untill its level with the roof and the seal around the glass looks even all the way around where it contacts the roof sheet metal, then tighten down the screws while holding the glass in place. if it continues to leak, remove the sun visors and the clips for the sun visors, i believe they are either philips scres or torx, there will be 2 screws on the visor itself, and 1 for the clip. then remove the front pillar trim panel, you will see a small cover in the upper panel, use a pick or a sharp thin tool to pry the cover off and remove the 7mm screw in there, pull the door weatherstrip off and pull the trim panel off, after you do that gently pull the headliner down in the front corner and peek up at the sunroof frame, make sure the drain ose is still connected, the procedure is the same for both left and right sides. this should definitely clear up your problem!

2004 Expedition Sun Roof Leaks

you have 2 drains in the front that go down the a pillars and dump near the fenders.

The rear usually go down the B pillar or C pillar and out thebottom near the rocker panel.

Blow them out from the top with compressed air and make sure you have air flow at the exits.. Open the roof to see drain holes in the four corners.
