What would cause black soot /smoke around alternator on 04 pacifica and then it not start with fully charged battery?

The battery gives the voltage necessary to start the vehicle, then after it is started the alternator will spin off the accessory belt and recharge the battery for the next startup. If your alternator was bad the vehicle would start but turn off shortly after driving a few miles. After making sure the battery is charge, clean the battery terminals and make sure they're tightly connected to the battery. If the engine doesnt turn over, it may be your starter. The alternator on the Pacificas arent really hard to take off since theyre located on the top,so if you're second guessing its the alternator, then just release the belt tensioner pulley and loosen the alternator bolts and have it tested at your local auto parts store. Good luck

2002 mercedes benz slk320 won't start after filling with gas

If the starter can't rotate the engine, starter motor might be heat soaked. Too hot to function. Let it cool off for around 1/2 hour and try to start. The cure for this is a heat shield for your specific model that goes between the engine block and the starter motor. I would be made of a thin material like aluminum.
Next to try is the fuel filter. Adding gas can stir up dirt on the bottom of the tank causing the filter to become clogged. Replacement is usually easy when the filter is located.
Also the fuel system can get partially clogged. Clean the injectors
to eliminate any trouble there. Also check that injector wires do not touch any hot metal on the engine. This could cause the injector signal to reach ground before the fuel is released.
The obvious check the air cleaner, when in doubt replace it and write the mileage on the filter with a marker.

My dash board lights come on but car will not start

is your battery fully charged,do you have spark from plug wires, does it turn over, you chek distributor and coil, chek fuses, chek the starter you have power to starter, you mentioned nothing about it turning over or cranks??? chek these first,, check for gas , can you see or smell gas when you try to start, chek ground wire from battery, check for corrostion on starter wires and any broken wires or frayed wires. start with the battery and then chek evrything else process of elimation ,do one by one.

Car wont start when hot, starter wont kick in

Not sure how you could check the starter hot, but the main components are the battery, key switch, neutral safety switch, and starter. A mechanic would check for voltage at each connection.

My pacifica was running fine. I stopped and turned it off then tried to start it again after 10 minutes and it would not turn over. U can not even get the starter to try and turn over

there may be a high amp fuse blown or a fusible link blown. check all fuses in the passenger compartment and under the hood. if you find no fuses bad, a fusible link is a large red cable that has a fuse in line. check the red cables leading from the battery to the starter for bulges in the line.

2004 Chrsyler Pacifica Won't Start

2 possible problem come to mind:
  • Bad ignition switch; faulty switch will occasionally make contact but not every time
  • Bad starter; less likely but possible; a bad starter will function when it's cold but when it heats up, takes much more power to make it work
I hope this helps with your problem and wish you the best of luck. Take care!
