When was the last time this engine had a tune-up? Is the check engine light on? If so, reading the codes will get you looking in the right places. It sounds like it is missing badly.

Rough idling

When my Grand Cherokee was having similar rough idling problems, I replaced all the plugs and replaced all the ignition and spark plug wires. I also put in half bottle of fuel injector cleaner in gas tank (full, as recommended). I had both immediate improvement in power, smoother idling and my gas mileage went up 2mpg (approx).

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. To be honest with you, there are many things that can cause a rough idle and power loss. I will tell you everything you need to check. Check to see if you have any vacuum leaks. Make sure your air filter and fuel filter are not clogged. If you haven't had a tune up in a long time, you need to have it done. Change your spark plugs.coils, wires, distributor cap, coil packs. Change your fluids if possible as well. You want to make sure to check your pcv valve also. Inspect all wires and hoses to make sure they are not damaged. And lastly, make sure the battery is good and holding a proper charge. Make sure the terminals are cleaned. If your parts are not getting the proper voltage, your vehicle will not perform like it should. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and thanks for using FixYa.

Just bought a computer for 1994 jeep grand cherokee but have no clue how to install need info to plug in computer

First, disconnect the Negative Battery cable. Your "computer" or PCM, is located behind the Coolant Recovery Jug on the Passenger side Firewall. Remove the two 10 mm nuts and one 10 mm bolt, and swing the Coolant Recovery Jug out of the way. The PCM has 3 connectors. Going from left to right, as you look at it, the connector's colors are as follows, Gray, White and Black. Remove them, remove the old Computer and reverse the operation to install it. AFTER every-thing's complete, then hook the Negative Battery Cable back up and start it.

My jeep studders like it is starving for fuel

It could possibly be your TPS or throttle position sensor. It plugs into the side of the throttle body and tells the injectors how much fuel to squirt. If the voltage source to the sensor is incorrect it may cause the jeep to idle rough.

Oil leak from pan and diying out in traffic do i replace oil pump?

Hissing noise generally is associated with a vacuum leak (which also causes rough idle and stalling) Find the source of the hissing noise and likely you will have found the problem.
