Question about 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
When driving, speedodometer in dash drops to zero. The vehicle maintains the same speed. Sometimes it stays at zero for 20-30 seconds, then goes back to the correct speed. It sometimes will drops and flutters between zero and the true indicated speed This also happens with the cruise control engaged and the vehicle will slow down. When the speedodometer picks back up, the vehicle intensely surges to regain speed. There is no particular pattern or speed that this happens at other than driving at any continuous steady speed. What could be the problem? My vehicle is a 2003Hyundai Santa Fe and has only 67,000 miles on it.
I thought this year of Santa Fe had a 100k Warranty? If so, take it to the dealer and get it fixed. Even if it's not under warranty, take it and get it fixed! This is dangerous to use with the cruise control!! Do not use the Cruise Control until you get this fixed. It sounds like a bad speedomoter sensor, and that is confusing the Cruise Control. Either your speedometer is going to stop working altogether, or your going to RAM someone from behind going at a DANGEROUS rate of speed. Take it and get it fixed, and do not use the Cruise Control until it is fixed.
