Question about 2001 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

Just got tune up/major service on the 2001 expedition and was running great 2 days ago. Now it seems to be sputtering and the check engine light came on. It seems like it is having a fuel issue. I just got the EGR back press sensor replaced 2 days ago with the service. I also got new spark plugs, coil boots, fuel filter. I did not get the evap sensor replaced, could this be the problem. Please help. Thanks Joseph

5.4L or 4.6L engine?? Check your coils. Go to autozone or advance auto parts and have them scan the ECU for the check engine light!! Its recommended to replace all 8 COPs(ignition coil over plugs) upon replacing the sparkplugs. These typically go out, especially if the coil boots are cracked. Hopefully this helps

Do you have a check engine light blinking when this problem occurs? I assume you do because if it is missing and sputtering like you say the engine control computer would detect that and turn on the check engine light. Next step is to have the systems fault codes read through the diagnostic port under the dash in front of the driver, Autozone and others does this test for free.

I had my 2006 Hyundai Sonata serviced two days ago. Had front brakes pads replace, power steering flushed, replaced front valve cover gasket and replace spark plugs, engine filter changed. Car drove fine...

that is just a basic 10,000 km service
check engine light on
undo battery terminals count ten reconnect
clears the codes
if check engine light returns
the code will be stored in the ecu

description sounds like an 02 sensor

My 2001 ford focus check engine light started blinking when I was on the freeway. It stopped blinking, but now it sputters and chokes at idle and during acceleration. It had a full tune-up about 10 days...

YOU ARE GETTING A SERVICE CODE SOMETIMES YOU GET A PROBLEM UNDER CIRITION CONDITIONS THAT MAKES THE MIL LIGHT COME WHEN THE CONDITION GOES AWAY THE LIGHT WILL GO OUT AND SYSTEM RESETS YOU REALY TO FIND OUT WHAT THIS CODE IS TRY TAKEING IT ON AUTO PARTS STORE MENY OF THEM WILL PLUG A CODE SENSOR AND READ IT FOR YOU FOR FREE BUT MAY NOT A CODE UNLESS THE LIGHT IS ON ITS PROBELY NOT A MAJOR PROBELM BUT SMALL PROBLEMS LEAD TO BIG PROBLEMS DOWN THE LINE GOOD LUCK

Very rough idle and low rpm and flashing service engine light.

Don't think it's major could be any number of sensors. Any autozone will run a free scan and point you in the right direction.
