My 1988 dodge power ram d100 will cut off while im driving. it will jump start sometimes and will only run for 5 mins after. if i wait a couple of hours and then try and start it it will run.

It sounds like the ceramic diode on the firewall is starting to go bad. These are very common. Its a white part and should be very easy to spot

Did you by any chance get gas before this happened? If you overfill your gas tank sometimes it affects the engine but when the gas goes down some in the tank everything normallizes

It will start some times and not other and shut when running

Check ASD Relay (Automatic Shut Down) Kills fuel and spark. Computer could be telling it to shut down, but usually Relay is bad. Key Switch could also be bad, get a good manual and a VOM (Volts, Ohms, Milliamps) meter, and make sure you have juice both coming in and going out, in the respective key positions. Jiggle wiring while testing, to check for loose connections

Headlights turning on and off

My old 1969 dodge d100 does the same thing. Replace the dimmer switch. It fixed mine. IT gets hot and then shuts down. Try that, Should be cheap.
