2013 Kia Optima is struggling shifting from first to second gear. Sometimes it will hammer into gear once it does. Also after driving it for a while it struggles to take off from a complete stop.

Being shut out of gear like that is an indication that your clutch is not disengaging even when the clutch pedal is down. Revving to 3000 rpm matches speeds inside the gearbox, in effect shifting without clutch action.
I believe your clutch cable is broken, unattached at one end or the other, or is too slack to release the clutch.
Check the condition of the trans fluid. If it is black the trans is proably worn out. You could take it to a kia dealership and ask them to reset the adaptives on your transmission.
Woiuld be just guessing, could be alot of things,,could be seriuos internal problem in transmission..best bet is take to mechanic and have checked.....good luck.
Alot of people have the same problem, including me. Changing the transmission fluid is not going to help this problem. THe transmission filter is not something you change as much as you clean and reinstall, its just a metal screen. Call Kia and ask for an "OVERDRIVE SHIFT SOLENOID" they will need the last 8 digits of your VIN, vehicle identification number, to locate your part. I am in the process of changing mine. The part number should be something like 46313-39051. That number is for a 2001 Kia Optima, with the 4 cylinder. There are three shift solenoids bolted to the bottom of your transmission should. I'll let you know what the difficulty level when I am finished.
Next time buy a manual and dont be so lazy ,Sounds like its lost a pump of a brake band thats controling these gears beacuse they are on the second eplycyclic
