Lucas not going to plug a big hole or a split line need to replace line before causing more damage to steering system
I seen were steering fluid had leaked out looked like from somewhere close to the top maybe the fluid was on the side of my car would that still be a hose?
hoses run from from top to bottom and if split fluid under pressure can spray all over with engine off look at the hoses that come out of pump and follow them to narrow down which one it is and or inspect the steering rack

That's the power steering pressure switch and it is very easy to replace. I don't know how much the part is, but it cant be very much. It's a very simple switch. I'd just replace it.

Just a heads up, $10 bucks will buy you a seal kit for the P.S. pump. I topped mine off for a couple months, then the oring on the high pressure line (from pump, front center) blew and dumped the reservoir in a matter of miles.
The line can be a stinker to get off, recommend driving the car for a few minutes to heat up the pump a little. Don't forget the 20MM wrench.
SOURCE: Transmission fluid, power steering fluid leak cause burnt smell?
The smell you are probably smelling is the fluids that are leaking hitting something hot like the exaust. Unless the leaks are so severe that it takes constant refilling then you should be ok. But be aware that when yu have leaking parts that you must regularly check those fluid levels. Them leaking wont cause major damage, but you not keeping the fluid levels up will. I had a tranny leask in my van for a 1 1/2 and thought it was a expensive fix, but I ended up fixing my leak for about 6 bucks. My point is, check your fluids once a day if not more depending on the severity of the leak.
SOURCE: power steering fluid leak
Does it leak while not running or when it runs? If it leaks without running you may have a bad P/S pump, return line or a crack in the resevior. If it only leaks while running you probably have a blown pressure line or a return line rupture. You may have a bad steering rack. The pressure lines typically will rust through, the return lines typically crack or rub thru. Hope this helps you.
