The fix for this is easy and free. The problem is caused by contaminated grease which has bridged contacts of the multifunction switch. This cause a short circuit which cause the hazard flasher to cycle. You need a #25 torx and a # 10 torx. Remove the 3 #25 torx screws which hold plastic surrounding the steering column. Remove the plastic. Remove the 25 torx screw on the top of the multi function switch. Detatch the wiring connectors. Remove the multifunction switch. Use the #10 torx to remove all the #10 torx screws. Remove the cover and clean the grease off the contacts and copper switch plate. You will notice grease has bridged the some of the slots in switch plate. Clean it up and regrease. reverse steps to reinstall. Notice the metal peice protruding from the multi function as it facing you. This is the turn signal reset switch. When you turn this is what resets the turn signal when the wheels straighten. This needs to be pushed in so no more than 1/8 " is protruding. If you dont do this before reinstalling your horn may go off when ever you move the steering wheel after reinstallation. This whole job should take 20- 45 minutes based on your mechanical apptitude.

SOURCE: Hello Experts,

Sounds like you need a new multifunction switch. Something in the switch is not releasing properly.

see C305 pin 2, any load on that pin will cause it to flash.(inside)
that would be any switch in the combo switch stuck on.

Turn signals blin continually

There is only a few things that can cause blinkers to blink continually, meaning if your saying they wont shut off, Normally it is the blinker flasher or a fuse. Sometimes it can be in the blinker switch itself. I first would check the flasher, and turn signl fuse. If the blinker stays on and does not flash, still can be bad flasher or fuse or a ground problem, You would then have to check the wires around area where there contact to the tail light blinkers and front blinkers. But first start as said earlier with checking flasher fuse, switch and fuse. Mike

There is a 4-way switch inside your steering column which controls the hazard lights the blinkers. If this switch is faulty your example is one thing that can happen. If the problem worsens you could lose all exterior lighting except the headlights. I had this happen to me one time.

Toyota blinker makes noise when the blinkers aren't on.

You need to replace flasher unit. This regulates the flashing speed. Check under the drivers side dash (it may hang amongst wires or in a fuse box) or under bonnet where all the large fuses are (these will be in a covered box). Sounds like under dash because of noise. Google search flasher units to see what the look like.

Pressing brake causing blinker issue

The trailer harness that was installed probably has a short inside the box that distributes power to the trailer pig-tail. Remove the trailer harness. You problem will be cured.
