The 2005 ford freestyle has two sensors in the gas tank, Witch one would i change if i got a po463 high input.

code p 0183 refers to fuel temperature sensor A --high input===causes --wiring short to positive ---fuel temp sensor--ECM
code p 0463 refers to fuel tank level sensor --high input===causes --wiring short to positive fuel tan level sensor ---ECM
if the temp sender and the fuel level sensor ( both located in the same fitting in the tank)are in the same wiring harness then there may be a connection as the wiring short to positive is common
check for the harness rubbed through somewhere causing the problem or an after market screw screwed into the harness some where

po463 refers to fuel tank level sensor--high input===causes wiring short to positive--fuel tank level sensor---ECM
check tank wires and replace the sensor

Could be a small gas leak in one of the gas lines or even a leak on top of the gas tank and yes could even be a leak where the fuel pump goes in the top of the tank. Quite often the leak is on the tank top out of sight and it smells of gas even if you have a slight leak.

Most likely a faulty fuel level sender , mounted on the fuel pump module in the fuel tank. Recommend replace complete assembly.

Hello the sensor is in your gas tank you will need to replace it not cheap the sensor is about $150.00 labour is what ever you can get the job completed for usually a 3 hour job.it is a big job a hoist is ideal!allot of gas can get spilled so my vice is take it in and have .it done your not alone these are famous for this problem.

failure rate of these sensors is very high .nissan extended the warranty period on these rather than issuing a recall.contact local dealer replacement would almost certainly be under warranty.as for no start there is currently a campaign to replace ecm relays for this issue but since obviously your fuel gauge isnt accurate you may just be out of gas.

CODE PO463 IS FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAULTY OR SENSOR WIRE HAS A SHORT.

PO 404 exhaust gas reciculation circuit, range or performance problems
PO 405 exhaust gas reciculation sensor circuit low
PO 463 fuel level sensor circuit high input

Replace the fuel pump module (inside the fuel tank) it has 2 level sensors on it. The po463 code is an open condition on the high level sensor, one sensor reports to the ECM, other to your gas gauge on the dash.
