What are the stock low and high fan settings on a 2002 mustang gt? i changed the stock 195 deg thermostat to a 180 deg thermostat and not sure what to change fan settings to.
i've installed bigger cams, injectors, throttle body and plenum, headers, exhaust, 3:73 gear, underdrive pulleys, etc. so i installed a 180 deg thermostat to try to help it run cooler mostly around town. with all the performance parts and running underdrive pulleys i thought that would help. wasn't sure whether or not to change fan settings with tuner or just leave stock fan settings?i've installed bigger cams, injectors, throttle body and plenum, headers, exhaust, 3:73 gear, underdrive pulleys, etc. so i installed a 180 deg thermostat to try to help it run cooler mostly around town. with all the performance parts and running underdrive pulleys i thought that would help. wasn't sure whether or not to change fan settings with tuner or just leave stock fan settings?
Your computer is calibrated to operate all systems at 195 degrees. If you run the engine colder, it will throw everything off. It runs a 195 degree thermostat, not to worry, normal operating temp. Gm says they are more "GREEN" when the temp is up,can't change the thermo to a 180 because the computer is set for 190 to let the fuel trim from the o2 sensors to help with mileage You may find it runs cooler with the AC on due to the electric fan running.
okay temp is not hot enough check thermostat temp rating is it 195 degree etc. are you in a cold climate state? Maybe you need to get a thermostat of a hotter degree[four seasons 195 degree should do it]. If this is what you have (195 deg. thermo) then it might be stuck open not allowing the heat to build up. Another possibility is air in the radiator system, bleed system.
This too might be of help the blend door, which is operated by the HOT to COLD lever on your climate control panel, might not be moving all the way closed to stop the cold air from coming in the mix area with the heat. Move the lever back and fourth to feel any change in heat with your hand. Put the defroster on fan on high and put one hand near the defroster vent thee other hand moving the temperature selector. Do you have some sort of heat and you can feel the difference from hot and cold, then my recommendation is to check thermo degree rating, if ok then try to flush radiator, and if that does not work --replace Heater Core. yes thermostats wear out. make sure your cooling fans are not running at the low temp you have. you may have a bad temp sending unit. also you gauge send ing unit could be bad.
You either have a head gasket problem or the
coolant system wants bleeding as air is being trapped in it .
Take out thermostat and try bleeding and driving without it in if ok then try the old one or a lower temp one
How are you planning on adjusting the ignition timing? With computer programing or moving the cranksensor. You should be o.k as long as you don't get spark knock. Are you checking this with a timing light or a scanner?
