On my 2004 Mercury Monterey the electric locks have started to randomly open and close. When parked, engine off, sometimes the right rear side door just opens up.

The door locks lock and unlock at seemingly random times while driving or while parked with the engine off. The right rear side door randomly opens, but does not close while the van is parked and the engine is off. This started a couple of days ago. I have other vehicles and used them. This morning the battery in the van was drained enough that I couldn't start it, though while I was seated in it there was a continuous sound of some solenoid attempting to operate from under the dash.

Not the master switch. The BCM/GEM module controls this. Basically this is the fuse panel. Replaced quite a few. I always check the plugs to it first. Corrosion will cause thing to work, when they are not supposed to.

I have seen this and in most cases the problem is the master switch in the drivers door.

Why is my Monterey having random weird glitches in power controlled devices in my Monterey?

Hello. It seems the PCM (Power train Control Module) is at fault. The PCM controls sliding doors, back up cameras, sunroof etc. The ECM, PCM and TCM are 'interconnected' with each other; work 'hand in hand'. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

I know there are at least two. The first being under the dash to the left. Second being in engine bay above the driver side tire.

Lift gate stopped working 2005 mercury monterey

The support shocks on the rear door need to be replaced. You can find them at your local auto parts store. They are VERY easy to install. Compare prices before you buy. Prices vary.
