Question about 2007 Cadillac Escalade Ext

'97 caddy Devile can't jump start is there an electronic lockout?

I recently had it towed on a flatbed truck, he put it in neutral and pushed the car into the parking spot. The car's electricity was working before it got towed and he let the driver's side window down. After he drove off I stuck the key into the ignition but very little or no power to close the window. I tried to jump start it with a one of those protable battery packs but nothing, tried to jump start it nothing. Used a battery charger on it it just sat a ZERO. Don't want to buy a new battery just to find out that's not the problem. Is there a stupid electronic device on there that keeps it from being jump started or battery charged while it is connected to the vehicle? Also found out that the starter is located in the middle of the motor and can't get to it unless you take the intake out. And you wonder why they went into bankruptcy..Does anyone know the answer???

Yes, the battery is under the rear seat passenger side, it sounds like the cable ends are corroded, give them a good cleaning and try to jump it then. The starter is under the intake. It is no wonder they went into bankruptcy. I am in Detroit so I know this story well this late model Cadillac driveline is terrible to service

Did the tow company put a fuse in position 37 of the glovebox fusebox? This puts the transfer case into Transfer Neutral for towing. Refer to the Owner's Manual under Emergency Information ->Vehicle Recovery->Towing for Recovery

Have a 99 blazer ( automatic) that is dead, needs a jump and is stuck between two other cars that cannot move. Can I put it in neutral and push it out of the spot with no power?.

You can push ot tow an automatic but must not exceed about 20 mph, and only over short distances without doing any harm to the transmission.

Can i jump start my 1985 nissan truck if starter is shot, I tried to jump start my truck but it wouldn't start

If the starter is shot no jump start should not work. The starter is what spins the motor.

Shifting an s430 into neutral when car is not running

somewhere near the shift handle /near console should be a Lockout Override. It might be a small rubber covered hole or gasket covered, but it should be there close.open it and you should see the way to nullify the lockout and shift into neutral.

How to engage 4x4 in 1995 nissan pathfinder, i just bought a pathfinder that was parked for 4 years and when i tried putting it in to 4wd the lever would not move it felt like it was frozen

My 97 pickup has to be in neutral. Push clutch in push down on 4x4 handle and then shift back or forward on lever. Plus engaging the lockout on hubs.

Want to change the drive belt to a smaller belt on my 97 caddy de

Here's a tip that i hope works for you, If you look on the accessory belt routing, it may have a diagram on it for the option "with A/C" and "without A/C" All you need to do is look at the diagram "without A/C" and make sure there's not an idler pully inplace of the A/C pump. Then all you do is order a serp belt for same make/model/engine car, just without A/C which will take up for the excess slack in the old belt. Allthough it is a caddy, it may have no option without A/C, meaning every caddy had A/C. Something to look at, and also try calling your nearest advance auto or autozone and have them look it up without a/c, and ask if that is an option.
Good luck!

How to tow a 2003 5.7 liter dodge durango

i am glad you asked
thats i the problem with the electronic select FWD system
when towing a FWD you should put both selectors in neutral this frees the transfer case and the drive shafts
how ever with the electronic system i dont know if it stays in neutral when the car is disconnected from the battery.
so you can make some tryles
  1. put the car in neutral in both selectors "gear and FWD" while the car is running when all the warning bell and stuff have gone off turn off the car
  2. now see if the car can be pushed or towed while the battery is connected
  3. now disconnect the battery and follow step 2
  4. if this works then all is well
i know when towing a FWD car u do need to put the transfer case in neutral to prevent damage
if you have the owners manual check under towing
if you don't, contact your local dealer and see what they say
hope this helps
