I need to replace my water pump in my Toyota Avalon. I need to know what parts I need and if I need to replace the timing chain as well

It is a precautionary act, water pump and tensioner should be replaced for peace of mind. The xost of replacing a water pump will be higher if it has to be changed at another time, a new belt

for all round reliability you replace water pump, seals , tensioner
and timing belt

Just take to auto parts store and have them clear it. It should stay off.

The water pump has to be replaced.Also inspect timing chain.Many a times while replacing water pump timing chain also gets misaligned.

DUE TO THE AGE OF CAR, TIMING BELT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REPLACE WATER PUMP, BUT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA..GAS AND OIL HAVE NO EFFECT ON TIMING BELT OR WATER PUMP.....

It has chain...no belt

Typically any timing belt replacement interval is 60k-75k miles. The book will however tell you 90k. Now it depends on what engine your Avalon came with. The 3.0 is a non interference engine meaning if it does snap, it will not cause any damage to your engine. The 3.5L engine however i dont know if its a interference engine or not but i dont see anywhere where it says it is. As always suggested, change your water pump as well, as it runs off the timing belt. Once i didnt change the water pump and a week later it locked up on me and ruined my perfect new timing belt. Truth be told :) lol

this car is not equipped with a timing belt, it utilizes a timing chain with an automatic hydraulic tensioner. no replacement interval! keep up on your oil changes and the chain should have a very long life!
